ALBANY, Ga. — From war-torn Afghanistan and straight into the arms of friends and family, a small group of Marines arrived in Albany Wednesday and are at MCLB following a deployment to Afghanistan.
Dozens turned out Wednesday afternoon on base to welcome the four Marines back home.

Major David Weaver, Capt. Jeffrey Cisek, Cpl. Anthony Vagnini and Sgt. Derwent Vaughan arrived on base around 3 p.m. Wednesday, grateful to be home and grateful to be among those who care.
“I’m ecstatic to be back,” Vagnini said upon arriving. “It’s appreciation; it’s nice to know that people care. What we do is important and we, of course, feel the pride, but that outpouring from others is definitely comforting.”
The Marines were deployed to Afghanistan as a part of Marine Logistics Command — forward, MCLB Public Affairs Officer Lt. Kyle Thomas said.
As they disembarked a nondescript, unmarked military van, the Marines were greeted first by anxious family members, followed next by their fellow Marines.
