“Albany Fire and Rescue 2013 Calendar” goes on sale Saturday at the Cordele Road Walmart. Proceeds will benefit the Salvation Army and A Place for Hope.
ALBANY, Ga. -- Dressed in issue jumpers from the waist down, the men of the Albany Fire Department posed for a little beefcake on calendars for charity.
The "Albany Fire and Rescue 2013 Calendar" will be available at a signing from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Cordele Walmart. The calendars are $12 each with the proceeds benefitting the Salvation Army and A Place for Hope.
"We've done this for a couple years and sales have always been good," said Donald Jackson, calendar coordinator and firefighter. "We are getting to our quota, but we have 1,000 to sell so there is plenty to go around."
Firefighters have pledged the proceeds to help A Place for Hope with its work for the homeless and needy in the community.
"The Albany Fire Department has recognized these individuals' need for nourishment and basic living supplies in the upcoming holiday season" Jackson said. "With assistance and the sales of calendars we can make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate right here at home."
For anyone who misses Saturday's signing, the calendars are available at Fire Station No. 1, 320 N. Jackson St., or Fire Station No. 6, 2521 Meredyth Drive. For further information call (229) 431-3266.
