ALBANY — Senior citizens are invited to attend Ward II City Commissioner Ivey Hines’ Town Hall/Community Chat at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Law Enforcement Center, 201 Oglethorpe Blvd.
Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards promises an eye-opening presentation on scams, thieves and other ways that criminals prey upon older residents.
“We’ll talk about the scams and how to avoid falling for them,” Edwards said. “One way is to notice that the mail scam usually comes with a Canadian (postal) stamp.”
Edwards also plans to speak about the ways seniors can avoid purse snatchers, pickpockets, assaults, home-repair fraud and con artists of all kinds.
