Religion bulletin for October 13, 2012


Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday school this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains.


The Rev. Julius Scruggs, president of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc., will be guest speaker at the 133rd annual session of the Camilla Missionary Baptist Association meeting Oct. 18 at Hyper Gym on the campus of Albany State University. Scruggs is pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church of Huntsville, Ala. The Camilla group is under the leadership of the Rev. Ivey C. Hines, moderator. The host churches of the Eastside district for the association and their pastors are Union Mission Baptist Church and the Rev. John A. Severson, Arcadia Missionary Baptist Church and the Rev. Lamar Ward and Greater Pines Chapel Missionary Baptist Church and the Rev. James Bush.

Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Bronwood will celebrate its 161st anniversary Oct. 26-28. Guest speaker for the Friday night program will be the Rev. Willard O. Weston, pastor of Sardis Baptist Church in Dawson. The speaker for the Sunday program will be the Rev. David Lockett of Zion Hill Church. The program Friday begins at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday program begins at 11 a.m.

Cathedral of Faith Church of God in Dawson will host revival services Oct. 21-23. Guest preacher will be Evangelist Janice Hill of Cleveland, Tenn. Services are planned at 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct.. 21, at 7 p.m. the following Monday and Tuesday. The church is located at 345 10th Ave. in Dawson.
