DUBLIN — Randolph Southern’s softball team advanced to the GISA Class AA state title late Saturday night by winning two-out-of-three games in the Final Four, and will meet powerhouse Flint River at noon on Saturday in Dublin in the best-of-three series to decide the championship.
Flint River beat Randolph Southern 11-0 on Saturday.
Madison Ragan led the Lady Patriots to their second state title appearance. They finished second in Class A last year, but GISA no longer has a Class A title, forcing Randolph Southern to play in the larger classification.
“We’re happy to be going back,’’ Randolph Southern coach Rand Ragan said. “We knew all along it would be Flint River. They were in the AA Final Four last year and won the AA title two years ago.’’
Madison Ragan struck out 36 batters and allowed just seven hits in three games (19 innings), getting two wins against Piedmont — 3-1 and 5-4. She also had seven hits in 10 at-bats for the day, and belted five doubles. She went 4-for-4 with three doubles in the deciding game, the 5-4 win against Piedmondt.
Braylee Blanton went 4-for-4 with a homer in the 5-4 win against Piedmont, and Morgan Lumpkin had a big day, going 3-for-3 in both wins against Piedmont. Alana McCook. Parker Rigsby and Dana McCarter all had four-hit days, and McCarter had a double with three RBI.
