Charter schools give kids a chance

Letter to the editor

I am a mother of three, a wife of a farmer and a proud PTO parent in rural Southwest Georgia. When our family moved to Morgan to be closer to our family farm, I realized that the public school wasn’t an option for my kids. Some kids may go well in the system, but mine didn’t.

We enrolled our kids in Pataula Charter Academy, a local public charter school, and it was a breath of fresh air. My kids are performing well and come home with excitement telling me what they’ve learned.

I wanted a better education for my children where I could be involved in their everyday activities. With Pataula Charter Academy, we got what we wanted — a great education, innovative classrooms and engaged parents. Charter Schools are public schools and they work for kids in Georgia, just like mine.

On Nov. 6, I urge you to vote yes for Amendment One. Give kids a chance and parents a choice for a better education.
