MOULTRIE -- Horace Jackson Thompson, 85, of Moultrie, died Monday, October 15, 2012 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Myrick officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Philip Brinson, Junior Gaines, Bennie Bullard, Tim Beason, Bennie Ricks, and Gene Reagin.
Born February 24, 1927 in Moultrie, he was the son of the late John Jackson Thompson and Mary Julia Arrington Thompson. He retired from Swift and Company and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and served a tour of duty in Japan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Goff Thompson; two sons, Ronnie Horace Thompson and Randy Lemmie Thompson; one brother, Jim Ed Thompson.
Survivors include one son, Ricky John Thompson and wife Laura of St. Johns, Fla.; five grandchildren, Nicholas Pierce Thompson, Chase Patrick Thompson and Anna Kate Thompson, all of St. Johns, Fla.; John David Thompson and wife Melissa of Thomasville and Jeffery Alan Thompson and wife Stacey of Statesboro; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Thompson, Ethan Thompson, Makenna Ponder, Kayla Thompson; one sister, Mary Lois Thompson Obert and husband Houston of Cottondale, Fla.; and three nieces.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
