Two plead guilty to armed robbery

ALBANY, Ga. -- Two men pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and armed robbery before he had a chance to pick a jury Monday, Dougherty Circuit Assistant District Attorney Matt Breedon said.

Breedon added that Dougherty Superior Court Judge Stephen Goss on Monday sentenced 18-year-old Bryant Shorter to 25 years in prison and 17-year-old Raheim Kendricks to 20 years.

Shorter was sentenced to five more years than Kendricks because he carried a gun during the commission of a crime. Each must serve 10 years before the possibility of parole, reports state.

In March 2011, Shorter and Kendricks robbed 21-year-old Brian Paul at the point of a 9 mm pistol at 2010 W. Broad Ave. While headed to the robbery site, Albany Police Department Officer Dramski Franklin saw men who resembled the robbers running less than a mile away to 402 S. Valencia Drive.

A search of the Valencia Drive residence found the stolen cash and the 9 mm gun, which had its serial numbers filed off, that was used in the robbery.
