ALBANY -- Amaya Portland King passed away October 15, 2012 in Albany, Georgia.
Born in Northern Central Spain, Amaya was raised in Madrid, Spain where in school she met and later married Paul D. King. Upon leaving Spain, the couple took residence and raised family in Albany, Georgia. To this union five children were born. Amaya unselfishly dedicated her life to family, church and entrepreneurship. Amaya showcased unique apparel and helped to dress women in Albany and surrounding communities for nearly fifty years. Additionally, she shared her vocal gifts and talents within her church and community at large.
Mrs. King's life legacy will be forever cherished by her husband; Dr. Paul D. King, Albany, Georgia, her children, Oscar King of Carson, California; Hector and Makeba King, both of Atlanta, Georgia, Paul and Diego King both of Jacksonville, Fla., her grandchildren, Amaya, William, Langston, Cora and Gabriel. Also thanking God for Amaya's life is a special friend to the family for many years, Mrs. Eddie Mae Moody. Amaya will be equally missed by a number of in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, family members, business colleagues, patrons and friends.
A Memorial Service honoring the life and legacy of Amaya Portland King will be held Saturday the 20th of October at 1:00 p.m., St. Teresa's Catholic Church - 421 Edgewood Lane Albany, Georgia. 31707. Father Stanton-Presiding.
