SYLVESTER -- The funeral services for the late Mrs. Geneva Nether of 165 Drayton Lane, Sylvester, GA who departed this life on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at her residence will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 12:00 noon from the Jones Chapel AME Church in Sylvester, Georgia with the Rev. Terrell Carter officiating, Rev. Dr. Robert Rice, Jr., Eulogist. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, GA.

Geneva Nether was born on September 16, 1947 in Albany, Georgia. Geneva was educated in the Dougherty County School System and graduated from Monroe High School in 1966. She attended Albany State College (University) for two years. On October 13, 1968, she married her sweetheart of four years, Alvin T. Nether. She moved to Philadelphia with her husband and worked for the Philadelphia Credit Bureau for three years. After a decision to move closer to family, Geneva and Alvin moved to his family home of Sylvester, GA. She went on to serve as a Safety Leader for Proctor & Gamble for 32 years. She was a faithful member of Jones Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she served on the choir and on the steward and trustee boards. Geneva was also very active in the Monroe High Class of 1966 and the Glorious Red Rubies chapter of the Red Hat Society.

Geneva leaves to cherish her memories a loving and doting husband, Alvin T. Nether; two daughters, Stacy Nether of Decatur, Georgia, and Kimberly (Robert) Roye of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; one son, Alvin (Encia) Nether of Helena, Alabama; two grandchildren, Laila Smith of Decatur, Georgia, and Micah Roye of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; mother, Ola Mae McKelvin of Lilburn, Georgia; brother, Mark (Evon) McKelvin of Stone Mountain, Georgia; sister, Sonya Parker of Albany, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Thelma (Robert) Rice of Atlanta, Georgia, Dorothy (Yoder) Faulker of Detroit, Michigan, and Sandra Robinson of Wilmington, Delaware.

Alvin and Family I offer you my heart felt sympathy for your lost. As you know Geneva and I work and share an office together in the Bounty Module. We were good friends. My prayers are with you, the Kids and other family members as you go through this phase of your life.
