DAWSON -- Mrs. Martha Ann Malsby Fletcher, 81 of Albany, GA., transitioned Monday, October 15, 2012 surrounded by her family at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. A Celebration of Life and Legacy Service will be held Friday, October 26, 2012 11:00 a.m. at Greater Second Mt. Olive Sports Complex with Pastor Oscar L. Sherrod, Jr., officiating. Wake services will be held Thursday, October 25, 2012 7:00 p.m. at Emanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Pastor Cornelius Wesley officiating.
Mrs. Fletcher was educated in the Lee County School System and worked at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for over 31 years retiring in 1986 as an Environmental Service Supervisor. After her retirement from Phoebe she partnered with daughter and son-in-law with Magnolia Place Assisted Living until her health failed.
She was a member of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church during her formative years, and later united with The Emanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church were she sang in the choir and served as an Usher, and a Deaconess.
Mrs. Fletcher was married to the late Benjamin Fletcher, Sr., and to this union six children were born.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of love, six children; Thelma Brown, Roy (Minnie Pearl) Fletcher, Mary Lee (Juster, Jr.) Hunter, Hilda (Allen) Shines, Benjamin (Elizabeth) Fletcher, Jr., and Bobby (Dorothy) Fletcher. One sister-in-law Martha Fletcher Miller. 31 grandchildren, 20 Great-grandchildren; 4 Great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
