SYLVESTER -- Mr. Joseph C. "Skippy" Rogers, Jr., 66, of Poulan died Wednesday October 24, 2012 at his residence.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday October 27, 2012 at the Poulan Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Poulan Cemetery with full military honors. The Rev. Mike DeLoach will officiate.
Mr. Rogers was born on June 11, 1946 to the late Joseph Curvis and Reba Juanita Carroll Rogers in Albany. He had lived in Worth County since 1963. Mr. Rogers retired as a Staff Sergeant from the United States Army in 1985 after 20 years of service and 3 tours in Vietnam. He later retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in 1996 as a supervisor. He was a member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars William F. Sikes Post 4825 and the Poulan Lions Club. Mr. Rogers served on the Poulan City Council for several years. He was a member of the Poulan Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Rogers enjoyed NASCAR and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Diane Posey Rogers of Poulan; son, Joe Rogers of Albany; daughters, Jennifer Parrish (Jarvis) of Sumner & Jessica Rogers of Athens; grandchildren, Briane & Bailey Parrish; brother, Don "Hoppy" Rogers (Penny) of Poulan and a sister Linda Walters (Art) of Leesburg.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
