Resisting arrest leads to jail for man

ALBANY, Ga. — In police parlance, an “unwanted guest” refused to leave an apartment on the 2100 block of Pearce Drive just before 9 a.m. Friday. According to an Albany Police Department report, 41-year-old Octavious Jones was asked to leave a residence, he refused and put up a struggle with officers trying to handcuff

Officers sprayed Jones with “Oleoresin Capsicum Spray,” commonly called “pepper spray,” the report stated. Jones continued to resist and was hit with the irritating spray again, it added.

“Cpl. Jameel Gulley sustained minor injuries during the struggle,” APD spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said. “He was treated and released and is doing fine. No other officers were injured.”

Other patrol officers arrived to help subdue Jones, the report continued, and he was booked into Dougherty County Jail. Jones faces two counts of obstruction of an officer and one count of criminal trespass.
