BLAKELY -- Dr. Aldophus Hampton "Hamp" Clarke passed away Monday, October 22, 2012. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home at 10:30 AM with Dr. Alex Howell officiating.
Dr. Clarke was born August 7, 1924 in Blakely, Georgia to the late Adolphus Hamp Clarke and Rillie Jones Clarke Armstrong. Dr. Clarke had his office of Optometry here in Blakely for 56 years. He served in the Air Force during WWII and attended the University of Georgia before transferring to the School of Optometry in Memphis, TN. He graduated in July of 1956. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 87 in Blakely. He was preceded in death, other than his parents, by 2 sisters: Mary Waller and Thelma Kersey and a brother: Herman (Speedy) Clarke.
He is survived by his wife: Eloise Bass Clarke of Blakely, a step-daughter: Jenene Bracewell of Smyrna, Ga.; 2 step-grandchildren: Caroline Bush and Jenni Davis and by 2 step-great grandchildren: Collin Rena and Samuel Davis. He is also survived by a very faithful employee and friend for over 36 years and also his primary caregiver- Faye Weaver.
