Watch out for little goblins

Trick-or-treating doesn’t seem to be as prevalent as it once was, but there will still be quite a few youngsters in costume out on the streets tonight, going door to door in search of candy and other treats.

And while that is best done before the sun sets, even at dusk little ones can be difficult to see. And in many cases, the trick-or-treating goes into the evening.

We hope motorists will be on their guard tonight, just in case. And we hope that parents will exercise good judgment by accompanying their children on their rounds and making sure their costumes are reflective so that drivers can see them more easily.

If everyone acts responsibly, the chances of a tragic accident occurring will be less likely. Halloween, after all, should be a night of fun, not one of tragedy.
