PELHAM -- Ronald Lavon "Rooster" Hurst, 51, of Cairo, GA (formerly of Meigs, Georgia) passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, GA.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Elder Travis Law will officiate the services. Active pallbearers will be Obey Salter, Kirby Salter, Jamie Hurst, Tony Hurst, John Dozier, and Tyler Hurst. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Salter, Dustin Simpson, Jordan Pollock, Frank Castillio and Eric Adams. Interment will take place in Meigs Sunset Cemetery.
Born on June 11, 1961 in Camilla, Georgia to the late Homer Ronald and Mary Evelyn Richardson Hurst, he was a retired metal millwright. He believed Jehovah's Witness and desired to be one.
He is survived by his sisters Debra Hurst Enfinger of Thomasville, GA, Vivian Pollock of Pelham, GA, Robin Dozier of Pelham, GA, Lahomia Hurst of Meigs, GA, Wanda Pollock and husband, Terry, of Pelham, GA, brothers Kenny Hurst of Moultrie, GA, Timothy Hurst of Meigs, GA, nineteen nieces and nephews, eighteen great nieces and great nephews, and six great great nieces and great great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 6 until 8 p. m. at Jamerson Funeral Home in Pelham.
