ALBANY, Ga. — A fight outside an Albany nightclub early Wednesday morning ended with one person jailed and investigators checking to see whether there could be a possible gang connection to a separate fight that broke out in the club.
Police say that they’ve opened a battery investigation after 31-year-old Cartez Haynes said he was punched in the face in the parking lot at Big Daddy’s Lounge, 300 E. Broad Ave., around 3 a.m. following a verbal argument inside the club. Investigators with the Albany Police Department’s Gang Unit are involved, APD spokesperson Phyllis Banks said.
Police say 33-year-old Cavetta Moore was also cited for disorderly conduct for refusing to leave the parking lot.
In August, 24-year-old Dontavious Luke, the leader of an Albany street gang, was killed in the Shackleford Shopping Center. Three men have been charged in connection with the incident. Big Daddy’s Lounge is across the street from the Shackleford Shopping Center.
