Club fight ends in an arrest, gang investigation

ALBANY, Ga. — A fight outside an Albany nightclub early Wednesday morning ended with one person jailed and investigators checking to see whether there could be a possible gang connection to a separate fight that broke out in the club.

Police say that they’ve opened a battery investigation after 31-year-old Cartez Haynes said he was punched in the face in the parking lot at Big Daddy’s Lounge, 300 E. Broad Ave., around 3 a.m. following a verbal argument inside the club. Investigators with the Albany Police Department’s Gang Unit are involved, APD spokesperson Phyllis Banks said.

Police say 33-year-old Cavetta Moore was also cited for disorderly conduct for refusing to leave the parking lot.

In August, 24-year-old Dontavious Luke, the leader of an Albany street gang, was killed in the Shackleford Shopping Center. Three men have been charged in connection with the incident. Big Daddy’s Lounge is across the street from the Shackleford Shopping Center.

Take away the liquor license and shut the "club" down.

What is about the hour between 3AM to 4AM. These bums get soused up and start banging on each other. Can't the city enforce a curfew. No juke joint should be open at 3 AM.

By the way, is Cartez Haines, an actor in a previous play reported by AH?

I thought I read in one of the other blogs that Dontavious Luke was NOT the leader of a gang but a fine upstanding young man who gave out school supplies and free haircuts to children. And here I see in this article that the writer says he was the leader of an Albany street gang. Which is right? And now I read yet another gang fight..tsk tsk....what is happening....tsk tsk..and what is this I see Fryar...an actor you say.in a gang fight..tsk tsk...is he really a gangsta or does he play one for the benefit of the APD..hahahaha.......OMG I go away for a short time and look what I come back to...
