Driver cited in Tuesday crash

ALBANY, Ga. — Westbound traffic lanes were soon cleared and re-opened following a crash Tuesday afternoon on the Liberty Expressway bypass.

Traffic was being rerouted after a collision at Jefferson Street and Liberty shortly after 5 p.m. Officials had motorists traveling west get off at Jefferson and didn’t allow any motorists heading west to get on the expressway at the Jefferson entrance until the roadway was cleared.

Officials with the Albany Police Department say that Anthony Davis Jr., 23, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu while Erik Taylor, 21, was driving a Ford Ranger pick-up. Davis was reportedly driving eastbound when traffic slowed down in front of him. With not enough time to stop, he crossed over into the median and struck Taylor head-on.

Nobody was transported by EMS. Davis was cited for following too closely.
