Police/Fire/EMS report for September 7, 2012

ALBANY — What started as a neighborly video game ended as a violent home invasion by three or four men, at least one with a handgun, all dressed in black with masks at about 11 p.m. Wednesday at 2415 Brierwood Drive, according to an Albany Police Department report.

The report said Kevin Clement, 32, and Brian Copeland, 30, were playing a video game in Apartment 223 with “unknown neighbors.” One man left the apartment and returned with the assailants. Clement or Copeland was hit in the face as the suspects searched the residence and stole cash and a Sony PlayStation 3.

Responding to a burglary about 1 a.m. Thursday, police found the front plate-glass window broken out and a register damaged at Mobile Depot Telecommunications, 1101 W. Broad Ave., a police report stated. Cash was stolen from a box under a counter at the business.

ALBANY POLICE: Albany police responded to at least 47 other incidents Wednesday and into the early hours of Thursday, according to available reports. Police responded to incidents including:

— Theft by taking on the 1600 block of South Slappey Boulevard;

— Disorderly conduct on the 200 block of Cone Street, the 900 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard, the 300 block of North Slappey Boulevard and the 300 block of South Mock Road;

— Aggravated assault on the 2000 block of North Harding Street;

— Remaining on business premises after closing on the 400 block of Fifth Avenue;

— Battery on the 1000 block of Clark Avenue;

— Entering autos on the 1800 block of Broad Avenue, the 800 block of Rood Street, the 2500 block of Habersham Road and the 1700 block of West Highland Avenue;

— Terroristic threats and acts on the 2000 block of Schley Avenue;

— Forgery on the 2400 block of North Slappey Boulevard;

— Child molestation on the 700 block of Ninth Avenue;

— Burglaries on the 100 block of Morningside Drive, the 3800 block of Mayfair Lane, the 200 block of Collins Street, the 2100 block of Techwood Drive and the 1200 block of South Harding Street;

— Acquisition of gas without paying on the 3300 block of Gillionville Road;

— Soliciting money from people in vehicles on the street on the 1100 block of Stuart Avenue;

—Aggravated assault, battery (domestic) on the 500 block of Swift Street;

— Assault (domestic) on the 2600 block of Flynn Court;

— Criminal trespass, interference with 911 (domestic), on the 600 block of South Jackson Street;

— Assault, threats (domestic), on the 1000 block of Netherland Lane;

— Domestic call on the 2200 block of Jackson Street;

— Domestic calls (unfounded) on the 100 block of Wells Avenue, the 2900 block of Powell place and the first block of Morningside Drive.

DOUGHERTY POLICE: Dougherty County police responded to at least 12 calls Wednesday, according to reports. Police responded to incidents including:

— Criminal trespass on the 3200 block of Sylvester Road;

— Vehicle crash into a flying bird on the 3500 block of Moultrie Road;

— Wanted person arrest on active warrant, open container and giving false name on warrants.

DOUGHERTY COUNTY EMS: Dougherty County Emergency Medical Service responded to 57 calls on Wednesday, including 48 medical calls, eight trauma calls and one assist Albany Fire Department. Medical and trauma calls included, but were not limited to, seven respiratory issues, four chest pains, three people fainted, 20 various medical calls, five falls and one assault.

ALBANY FIRE DEPARTMENT: The Albany Fire Department responded to 11 incidents Wednesday, including five activated alarms, an on-job injury, a $20,000 structure fire, a power line down, a false alarm, smoke in an area and a medical call.
