SYLVESTER -- The funeral services for the late Mr. Rufus Williams of Sylvester, who departed this life on Friday, August 31, 2012, at Columbus Specialty Hospital in Sylvester, will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the First African Baptist Church in Sylvester, with the Reverend Calvin Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery.

On March 15, 1958, Rufus Williams, Jr. was born to the late Rufus Williams, Sr. and Mae C. Williams in Doerun, GA. He was educated in the Colquitt County School System and graduated from Doerun High School in 1976. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and joined the First Albany Deliverance Cathedral in Albany, GA. He worked as a forklift operator at Tifton Extrusions, Inc. in Tifton, GA.

He leaves to remember his life a devoted wife of 34 years, Violet Jefferson Williams; four sons, Bryant N. (Ashley) Williams, Joshua L. Williams, Lavondra Clements and Hilton Clements all of Sylvester, GA; a mother, Mae C. Williams of Doerun, GA; a granddaughter, Briana Nicole Williams of Sylvester, GA; a grandmother, Aoma Stewart of Doerun, GA; sisters, Antoinette Roberts & Virginia Williams of Albany, GA, Wilma (Donald) Hill of Doerun, GA, Liz Taylor of Sebastian, FL; brothers, Zacchary (Denise) Williams of Chesapeake, Virginia, Patrick (Shanandra) Williams of Woodstock, GA, Stacy (Traci) Williams of Moultrie, GA; aunts, Juanita Reeves of Columbus, Ohio, Francis Williams of Riverdale, GA, Nancy Williams of Athens, GA, Christine Alford of St. Petersburg, FL; uncles, Willie D. (Della) Pittman; Claude Thomas, Jr. of Hallix, VA; a special devoted sister-in-law, Mary Jefferson; two best friends, David Lee Jones and Lonnie Jefferson
