ALBANY — It took eight innings and some daring base running, but Dougherty won its fifth game in a row Thursday, beating Westover, 13-10, to improve to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in Region 1-AAAA.
Ta’Kiya Davis bunted to start the eighth and Aquavia Lovett was hit by a pitch. They both moved up on a double steal and both scored when Dominique Anderson bunted down the first base side.
Amber Ward followed Anderson’s bunt with an RBI single and pitcher Dashaara Brunson shut down Westover in the bottom of the eighth to improve to 5-0. Quannesha Gatlin went 4-for-4 with two RBI, Davis went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Anderson went 2-for-5 with three RBI for Dougherty.
SGA 15, Deerfield 2, (5): Allison Warren went the five-inning distance to get the win for SGA while Kendall Kirkland took the loss. DWS was led by Hannah Mills (2-for-2) and Madison Crosby (1-for-2). SGA was led by Kelly Whitaker, Baylee Everson, Kendall Carver and Addison Ponder, who each went 2-for-3.
RANDOLPH SOUTHERN 12, FULLINGTON 1, (5): Madison Ragan and Morgan Lumpkin combined for a no-hitter as the Lady Pats improved to 7-2 overall and are now 5-0 in region.
At the plate, Randolph was led by Ragan (2B, two RBI), Parker Rigsby (2-for-3, 2B), Braylee Blanton (2B, RBI) and Dana McCarter (2B).
SCA 9, BROOKWOOD 0, (5): Anna Laine Brock pitched a one hitter and struck out eight for the Lady Eagles (6-3, 3-0), while SCA was led at the play by Christina Charles (2-for-2, two RBI), Jamie McPherson (2-for-3, 2B, two RBI), Kaliyn Gore (two RBI), LaKese Brown (two RBI) and Aubrey Green (two RBI).
LEE COUNTY 6, BAINBRIDGE 2: Erin Callaway threw a two-hitter and Ashley Morris went 4-for-4 with a triple to lead the Lady Trojans (11-6) in their Region 1-AAAAA opener. Hailey Scott went 2-for-4.
