BUSINESS

Federal Government Contracting Opportunities: 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Wednesday, Albany Technical College, 1704 S. Publishing Your Own e-Book: Two evenings, Sept. 20 and 27. Class is on how to publish a paperback and list it on Internet stores for free, how to create eBooks for Kindle and Nook, and how to create and organize a publishing plan for new or existing books and use a PC as a gateway to self-publishing paperbacks and eBooks. SIGN LANGUAGE

Introduction to Sign Language: A 14-week course covering conversational sign language, deaf culture, causes of deafness and proper etiquette for signing. Classes begin Sept. 4. Call Darton State College Division of Continuing Education at (229) 317-6730 for more information and to register.

SEWING

Classes are being held at the Sew-thern Belles Sewing Studio, 2516-D Dawson Road, in the Largo Plaza, across from the Northwest Public Library. Pick up additional information at the studio Monday-Saturday or contact Carolyn Levy at (229) 869-6775 or cclalbany@hotmail.com.

Adult Sewing Classes are 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All levels, including beginners. Machines are provided. Participants work at their own pace and choose their projects. Adults can begin any week. Instructor: Carolyn Levy. Classes are $12.50 per hour.

MUSIC

Piano Lessons: The Albany State University Early Learning Center now offers piano lessons for all ages in the afternoons and on weekends. Lessons cost $40 per session. Contact the center at (229) 430-2792.

HEALTH/FITNESS

GriefShare: Education and support group for those who have lost a loved one due to death meets at First Baptist Church-Albany at 145 Oakland Parkway from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 14. Individuals may join the group at any time. Contact Kathy at (229) 883-8000.

National Alliance on Mental Illness: Family-to-Family Education Program, 12 weeks beginning in January 2013. Free to family members and caregivers of persons with mental illness. Includes latest research, support, resources and coping strategies. Sponsored by NAMI Georgia with support from the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
