There are so many opposing facts and opinions about global warming, the actual stage that a fetus qualifies as a person or which political party has the best plan to save Medicare. There are also many warring facts and opinions about President Barack Hussein Obama Jr. I want to take a narrow path to facts about America’s 44th president and leave my opinion for last.
President Obama’s mother grew up in Kansas, and his father was a goat herder from Kenya. President Obama is married to Michelle Robinson, also from Chicago. Mr. Obama graduated from Columbia University and attended Harvard Law School. The president spoke out against invading Iraq in 2002 and in 2010 he kept a campaign promise to end the war in Iraq. As president, the first law he signed was The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009. In 2009, Mr. Obama declined to appeal a lifted ban on carrying concealed weapons in national parks. The president favors raising the taxes on only those making over $250,000. The president is in favor of the DREAM Act and same-sex marriages. President Obama is America’s only president who is not of an Angelo-Saxon descent. President Obama ended the policy of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell in the military. In 2012, the Supreme Court confirmed the legitimacy of the Affordable Healthcare Act, otherwise known as Obamacare. Mr. Obama confesses his faith as Christian.
The president made lofty promises for his first term. Whether the president is re-elected or not, his performance framing is already set by those who love him and by those who believe he was not qualified for the office on day one. Historians will have a feast for decades to gauge this country’s advancement in joining other progressive countries in breaking racial barriers through their highest held office.
