sister ruby's comment should be removed
She is just stating what everyone feels. The only changes I would make is she shoulda said @$$, effer and pooper. We all know what she would have meant. I took a pic of it with my ipad if you wanna see what she said. lemme know.
a photo of her vulgarity is just as bad and should be probably be removed as well. What kind of person takes pictures of vulgarity and re-posts it anyway?
boyoboy asked me to. At least you can choose not click the pic if you don't want to see it. I am so glad you learned how to click the "replies" now.
Thanks, I agree.
your head should be removed. there would be no change in your "intelligence".
Why? Because you prefer this squawk over one that would have been in remembrance of 9/11? Or just because it came from Sister Ruby?
Bubbasmithredneck (Da corch) is a member of the Honey Boo Boo fan club. He even bought himself a pig to live in his house.
I knew da corch had to be commenting under another name!
He says he is not Da Corch, but he sounds a lot like him, plus last week he rambled on in a childish way saying things like "In Your Face" etc just like Da Corch did.
I wish i was as cool as him....He was by far the best poster we had. I wish he would come back and blast you guys again.
There should be a "dislike" button. Ruby's comments may have been crude but they were accurate. Sort of disappointed they took it down. It wasn't racist or even hateful. Funny how the paper will remove comments that may reference a couple of curse words BUT will leave the racist garbage up that flows from both sides? Which is worse?
Why?? Cuz she dared to use edited cuss words?
After all, who would expect a newspaper to be a staunch 1st amendment advocate.
Sister Ruby, I don't think I have ever seen you get this heated. While I completely agree that a Remembrance Squawk would have been more proper, don't let those who aren't respectful of what today means, upset you so much that you lose the respectful way in which you reply. I have always agreed with what you post here, you have always handled yourself in a very respectful manner while still holding your ground, let's show them together how those of us who Remember the lives lost and the impact this day had on the USA, honor those lives. Keep standing true to your beliefs and convictions Sister Ruby, but let's honor 9/11 by showing respect ourselves. I completely agree with how angry and upset you are and believe that you are justified in being upset.
@Albany Herald..... This Squawk of the Day should have been reflective of the importance of what 9/11 means to this country. As a nation that is still healing and recovering from such tragedy, this should have been a place where we could unite in remembering what this day means to all of us. Instead we are looking at a squawk about some undereducated family that thinks it's funny that they act the way they do and that think people want to see their lives on national television. Instead people are watching because they are laughing at what they believe the stereotypical southern family acts like. This is such a slap in the face to the importance of what today is truly about. This is a day that the nation will NEVER forget and should NEVER forget, yet you have soiled it with such a disrespectful squawk about a disrespectful family. Please consider this in the future when you choose the Squawk of the Day and consider tailoring the squawk to fit important days in history.
With our Hearts we Remember
by Everything you get from the GOVERNMENT
Yes we do....every day of the rest of our lives.
I remember the Towers falling, the Pentagon burning, and the debris from a plane that fell from the sky filled with heroes. I remember the look of fear, anguish, pain, tears, confusion, and panic. I remember those men and women who charged into those burning, falling, smoking, dusty places to rescue any who were alive, and say a quick prayer for those who did not make it. I remember the firehouse Chaplain being carried by another, limp, and having gone to his Maker. That day Americans prayed and hugged their children a little tighter. That day our daily struggles became a little bit smaller. That day we shared looks of sadness and pain with strangers. That day America loved more. I remember and I will never forget. I hope you don’t forget either.
It seems like this was just yesterday (even though today's the anniversary) but I remember waking up to get ready to go to work that morning and not knowing that had happened yet and turning on the TV and seeing that on the news, seeing the footage of the planes crashing into the towers. I was confused at first until it hit me that it actually happened. I think about those passengers on the plane and what fear that was going through their mind, but the real touching story was the unselfish passengers in that one plane knowing they were going to die still fought the terrorist to try to save the lives of others.
I totally agree sister!!
Our rights of the many freedoms we have as Americans, are the reasons so many want to be part of the this great country. Unfortunately they also are the reasons many want to destroy us. We may bicker about our political differences , religions ,taxes, personal views etc. Tread on us an we'll show the greatest power of unity to the world .I'll never forget this day an what i was doing at the time of this travesty to our country, nor will i forget how i felt seeing the pride of unity of our fellow Americans for weeks that followed. Even now we will take time out of our hectic day to remember the price of freedom isn't free . God bless you an God bless this great nation !!!!!!!
As for the squawk, that's exactly what makes our country unique. It may not have been the appropriate one for today, but its non the less freedom of speech an one of our rights.
In the words of Alan Jackson, "...where were you when the world stopped turning, on that September day?..."
Wow. I suppose it's not so suprising that a nation that indulges in self gratification and the flavor d'jour would turn from remembering that tragic day to "Honey Boo Boo". I share your disappointment Sister....I'm sure they could have picked a more appropriate squawk for today.
Agree sister, i'm sure the marine base is real inpressed with this squak for 9/11. Sorry to the people who lost loved ones.
To the staff of the Albany Herald: I cannot believe that your Squawk of the Day did not reflect 9/11. This is totally disresptful, degrading and plain rude to the people that gave all on this horrible day in our history. If nothing else, remember the men and women that died on this day and the great people, our military, that has given all since that day.
This may be the wrong day for this to be the squawk of the day but Sister Ruby you are just as much a disgrace and need your mouth washed out with soap.
There's a lot of people in this world who should be happy that the United States reacted the way it did..relatively peacefully. A LOT of people tend to die when we get really upset. Even within the secret Muslim world the perp was tracked down and eliminated. Now, let us get out of there with the warning that was the last time we will play nice.
I agree with every part of your statement except the last sentence. With the current president we have if it were to happen again he would apologize to the terrorists.
Who is this Honey BooBoo...............? I am quite sure nobody I would waste my time watching!!!
I agree with that...I had to google "Honey Boo Boo" to even know what the squawker was talking about.
As the Democrat said "if anyone was offended, I apologize." I have wash out my own mouth with soap and sometime I lose the Spirit and sometime I don't but at least you all that read what I say earlier most of you do agree at least in principle.
Still say the SOTD selector should be fired and packing up they desk as we speak.
No need to apologize. You said what most true Americans were thinking. Seems to me that the only one offended was Bubba and in response to his being offended I say who gives a rats butt.
It doesn't matter what the squawk is...people here never stay on task. Save your soap for bathing.
Sister_Ruby what bottom shelf potion were you drinking last night? I want to make sure I don't buy that one.
I agree this squawk should be in Rememberance of 9-11
With that being said lets make it that way.
Written by Cheryl Sawyer
As the soot and dirt and ash rained down,
We became one color.
As we carried each other down the stairs of the burning building,
We became one class.
As we lit candles of waiting and hope
We became one generation.
As the firefighters and police officers fought their way into the inferno
We became one gender.
As we fell to our knees in prayer for strength,
We became one faith.
As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement,
We spoke one language.
As we gave our blood in lines a mile long,
We became one body.
As we mourned together the great loss
We became one family.
As we cried tears of grief and loss
We became one soul.
As we retell with pride of the sacrifice of heros
We become one people.
We are One color One class One generation One gender
One faith One language One body One family One soul One people
We are The Power of One. We are United. We are America.
Terihdfxr, I'm on your team!
Squawks are rarely about anything positive, so I really didn't think much about this particular squawk on this particular day. There is an article about 9/11 on the front page, so this very important day was remembered by the Herald. As far as the squawk, I have to agree wholeheartedly with the squawker. I have not wasted my time watching this poor excuse for a television show. We keep sinking to new lows in this country regarding what we call entertainment.
The really sad part is that it gets enough ratings to keep running, as with all the other junk that's on tv.
I totally believe it! If they were to remove the squawkbox, the paper would probably lose subscribers.
I don't subscribe to the Herald but did years ago and got it a day late because I had to have it delivered by the USPS. No carrier service because I live too far out in the country. I don't think there was a Squawk Box in the Herald when I took the newspaper and didn't realize it was part of the printed paper. I actually thought it was only online. I will have to break down and buy a copy and look at it. I do think the format of the online edition changed a while back and I didn't like it. Boo hiss on whoever built the new page. My opinion and I am entitled to it.
I didn't even know what it was 'til I just looked it up. Doesn't sound to entertaining to me.
I think everybody said just about everything I would want to say. I would think the herald could have taken this one day of the year to select a positive squawk to honor this day even if they had to make one up and printed it themselves. To select a squawk about Honey Boo Boo is about as disgraceful of a squawk to print as one could pick as if you couldn't at least of waited one more day to print that one. Maybe what Sister Ruby said was bad, but if you are going to remove her squawk, why not remove this squawk and replace it with an honorable squawk, but then again it's too late now. No point closing the barn door...... the horses have already escaped. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!
who the hell is honey booboo? sounds like a nickname mooshelle has for bho
Brian was a 42 year old Marine who had just retired from the Marine Corps in North Carolina and moved to New York City to take a job at Cantor-Fitzgerald, a brokerage firm. He was at the World Trade Center in the Twin Towers to interview at C-F on September 11, 2001. Six hundred and fifty eight families lost loved ones at C-F that day....and my husband and I lost a wonderful friend. Not a day goes by that I don't think of Brian.
I pray that God comforts the hearts of the families shattered by the attack, each September 11th as they are again reminded of their loss. May he also comfort us as a nation and remind us that we are family as well.
The Albany Herald may not have chosen to center the SOTD around 9/11, BUT, we the readers of the online squawk, have taken a stand, united together and have centered our thoughts, feelings and posts around what today means to each of us. THIS IS WHAT THIS DAY IS ALL ABOUT............ UNITY, STANDING TOGETHER, NO SOCIAL DIVIDES
Beautifully stated sid28sid, very beautifully said......I thank you for your very eloquent statement.
I agree with Anothermom. If the whole paper had been dedicated to 911 then people would be fussin about that too, cant win for losing. I dont think I would go so far as name calling, saying people should get fired, or die for the choosing of SOTD . Sounds a bit dramatic to me but, I can also tell by some of the daily and numerous comments made by some people that they are not that intelligent anyways. Some of the trashy comments I see on here are no better than the Honey Boo Boo family anticts.
I truly do aplogize for the crudeness. I was upset but that is not an acceptable excuse. Everyone have a pensive day.
Your post was removed before I read the squawk!
If you click on "3 replies" above, under my first comment, you can read it, but only read at your own risk, lol, parental discretion is advised.
Sister Ruby , don't apologize. It was the first comment posted , it deserved to stay. we all read bubba's bs an its well known he has it in for you in many ways . You have the right to freedom of speech , as well as the trash the squawk is about, freedom of the press. we all know that the squawks are sent in an they choose these at their will. Makes me think we didn't send in a squawk honoring this day.Lets all remember to bomb bard the squeeker box next year on the 7th 8th 9th an 10th they will fill the whole column. Thanks sister for all your great comments , your witticism an knowledge is honorable.
Go Sister Ruby! While I may not always agree with your point of view. You state your opinions clearly and we all know where you stand.
Thank you Albany Herald for doing the right thing and removing that filth. Keep up the good work!
it's still there corch, alls you gotta do is click "3 replies" duh...
The Corch is cool ....but he is not me...
no smarty.....its gone.....she was the first person to speak on this squawk and it was so vulgar I asked that it be removed. The herald agreed.....so......have a nice day!
OMG, you must not be able to read!!! I took a picture of it, then I put the picture of the comment back on... and it's under my first post above.... way, way above... and you have to click on the little blue number and word that says "3 replies", it opens to show you three replies, wow. Then you see the picture I took of the comment, seeeeee??? I posted it back on there... And as of right this moment, it is still there... It was posted 2 days 11 hours ago, and it is STILL THERE! did I explain it clear enough for you this time? Again I say, "DUH!"
No response from Bubba, guess he still hasn't figured it out.
