APD investigates early-morning home invasion

ALBANY, Ga. -- At least three people were injured when masked gunmen barged into a home around 12:45 a.m. Monday, police said.

Officials with the Albany Police Department said the robbery occurred at 1010 Ninth Ave., where three masked men dressed all in black reportedly entered the residence, struck three of the seven occupants with a handgun and made off with a purse containing cash.

Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said the suspects entered the residence and demanded money. Liqin Jiang, 35, stated that she was inside her bedroom when she heard noises near the back door. When she came out to investigate, she reportedly saw the three suspects inside the residence with guns.

The suspects emptied her purse and took a large amount of cash. A wallet was also taken from another victim, police said.

One female received medical treatment at the scene, Banks said.

Saiyun Yu, 30, was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment of a head laceration. The other victims identified by police were Cesar Salazar, 42, Zhi Zhong Jiang, 32, Hengxin Zhu, 43, as well as two juveniles.

The offenses listed by police in connection with the case are burglary, armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The case remains under investigation.

Hopefully the perps weren't parked facing the wrong way on the street. That would be bad.

Surely they would have been, the officers are showing no mercy. So maybe they can be traced through their ticket.

Let's see - this was a "SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE"? 1st, they should own a hand-gun or shotgun. 2nd put money in a bank (that way you'll have to pay you fair share of taxes).
