SYLVESTER -- Mr. Oren C. "Pat" James, 85, of Sylvester died Monday, September 10, 2012 at Willson Hospice House in Albany.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery with Dr. Ben Bush officiating.
Mr. James was born on November 5, 1926 in Worth County to the late Charles Rufus and Alice Alma Dupree James. He had lived in Worth County all his life and was a United States Navy Veteran of WWII. He was employed with Houston Gin & Warehouse Company for 34 years as a manager/bookkeeper. Mr. James was a member of the V.F.W. William F. Sikes Post # 4825 and the Tifton American Legion Post # 21. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 25 years, the Baker Sunday School Class, Senior Adults, Senior Choir and the Amended Hearts of America. Mr. James and his wife would have celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on September 18, 2012.
Survivors include his wife, Wynell "Nell" Hancock James of Sylvester; son, David James (Bert) of Sylvester; daughter, Debra J. Ayers (Ralph) of Sylvester; grandchildren, Clint James, Eric James (Katie), J. B. Watkins, Tommy Giddens (Christina) and Ashley Shealy (Brian), great grandchildren, David & Anslee James, Kendal & Raleigh James, Karleigh & Braleigh Giddens. Kaleigh Giddens, Gavin Shealy and Aiden Wooden.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
