Police respond to two assaults

ALBANY, Ga. — Reports available from the Albany Police Department show that there were at least two people victimized with handguns over the weekend and into early Monday.

Police responded to an attempted robbery at 1404 Whispering Pines Road, Apt. R-10, at 3:50 a.m. on Monday. The victim in that case, Srinivas Gattu, 43, reported that two men — one in possession of a handgun — approached demanding money. The suspects then fled in a vehicle and remained at large as of Monday evening, police officials say.

The case has been forwarded to investigations and remains active and open. The first suspect description was that of a black male who was wearing dark clothing with his face covered and is 5-feet-8-inches tall with a skinny build.

The second suspect, whose face was also covered, was described as a light-skinned black male who is 5-feet-5-inches tall with a medium build. There was a third suspect who was driving the getaway vehicle, for whom there is no available description, police said.

Also, APD was dispatched to 1903 Flintlock Drive just before 10 p.m. Sunday in response to an aggravated assault, reports show.

Tashana Perkins, 22, reported that a black male 5-feet-9-inches tall weighing 120 pounds and wearing a white T-shirt with white shorts who goes by the nickname of “Goo Goo,” brandished a handgun while threatening her, police said.

The suspect physically hit Perkins, after which he fled on foot. No other information has been obtained, and the suspect had not been apprehended as of Monday evening. Case has been transferred to investigations and remains open and active, police said.
