ALBANY, Ga. — Fraternity brothers of a 20-year-old Albany State Sophomore say the body found at about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday in the Flint River is that of ASU student Taylor Terrell.

The Phi Beta Sigma brothers declined to have their names disclosed as they entered the Albany Police Department Law Enforcement Center to be questioned by Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents.

Bureau spokeswoman Agent Kim Baker said at an after 6 p.m. news conference that "there is no information of hazing in the death investigation."

The investigation is a joint effort including the GBI, the Albany State University Police Department and the Albany Police Department.

ASU Police Chief John Fields said the family of the deceased student has been notified, but no confirmation of the body's identity would be given as it is part of the death investigation.

The cause of death is unknown, said Dougherty County Coroner Emma Quimbley. Plans call for the body to be taken to Macon where an autopsy will be done at the GBI crime lab.

According to reports, Terrell was was last seen at about 6 p.m. Saturday. He was reported missing by the ASU police Monday. Tuesday, a call was received by officials about a body seen in the river near the Radium Springs Boat Landing.

The Albany Fire Department launched its rescue boat and recovered the body in about five minutes, said Assistant Fire Chief Allen Cravey.

He must be from out of town if his frat brothers were the ones to ID the body. Very sad.
