No, jury selections are not that. It does seem that you have to be registered to vote. This should not be though and they will deny it to the end of it, but where else are they getting the names. This is a good question. Some folks will not register to vote because they do not want to lose work time to serve on the jury. They should be getting from some other source.

I am assuming the squawker is referring to the Riggins jury. Yep==but when attorneys pick a jury, GEDs over college diplomas and drop outs overs GEDs. Defense attorneys go for the uneducated. They figure the less education you have, the greater the chance of ignorance, Therefore, if you were on the Riggins jury, don't congratulate yourself too much. Brimberry picked you because you were DUMB and would buy the excuse that Ms. Riggins didn't know how to fill our the forms.

NOT GUILTY!!!!! DCSS Wins again!!!!!
VSU 7 months, 3 weeks ago
Based on FlunkyMonkey's comments above, had you had jury duty you would have been the first one picked.

you really believe this is a WIN for the dcss? I know you do, that was rhetorical......which means it didn't need an answer! In my eyes.....you are just like the dcss.....you don't surprise me anymore.....just disappoint!

I could play dumb too and agree that Riggins did not know how to fill out the papers. We know that she did know how to fill them out to benefit her. Sad case!!

I hear ya, bubba!! Black power, nothing can stop us now!!! Finally getting paid back for building this country after being allowed to come to a free country. I know they didn't intend everything to be free but we will take it, take it all I say.
I say "if you can't beat them, you may as well join them" I headed to the phone store for my free phone today, to DFACS tomorrow so they can educate me how to apply for all other free stuff.

Just another example of Albany gone down the drain. No matter was evidence you put up in front of some jury, you are going to get NOT GUILTY. She will have to face parents who don't care, children that just want out of school and a school board that will not enforce the rules and regulations set forth. THIS WAS A SAD VERDICT FOR THIS COUNTY AND CITY.

This newspaper has tried to exploit the problems of the DCSS and the BOE so much until now it has backfired on them. The people are tired of these "media driven witch hunts" and are fighting back. So once again.... NOT GUILTY!!!! Deal with it.....
FlunkyMonkey 7 months, 3 weeks ago
This was not a "media driven witch hunt" but a majority black jury that needs a majority black school board to keep the entitlements coming...screw those who really need and deserve the free lunches...
bubbasmithredneck 7 months, 3 weeks ago
Oh yes it was .....from the CRCT scandal, to bashing of its administrators, to this lunch application crap........everytime......THE DCSS came out smelling like roses while you guys came out smelling like something else......lol
VSU 7 months, 3 weeks ago
And those guys still smell better than you.

Smelling like Roses? If I were an Economic Development Director for any City within 150 miles I would have indepth files on all these incidents. It is a far cry from being not Guilty to being innocent. From simply sliding by to being competant in your job. You still haven't addressed the misuse of public funds, and the Title 1 money. No, DCSS smells like a freshly fertilized Rose Garden. Any individual with any common sense can read between these lines and know the truth about Albany and it's shinanigans. I believe those in the Corporate World understand Albany, and other places like it, all too well.
bubbasmithredneck 7 months, 3 weeks ago
If you cared anything about Albany, you would invest your time in helping the DCSS and its children as opposed to trying to ridicule it and using politics to remove those you dont like.
VSU 7 months, 3 weeks ago
What have you done to help out the DCSS and its children? Nothing! I bet you don't give a rat's @$$ about them.
waltspecht 7 months, 3 weeks ago
You are out of touch. Those that try to help the system from within are chastised for trying to make others look bad, and not doing their job as Administrators want. Mostly just plain harassment. As far as outsiders helping, they are shunned if they even try to change things for the better. Now if you want to help, put people that know theri job, and really care to improve things in place. Don't keep the existing in place, just to keep sorry folks employed in positions they don't belong in. No one would be talking about DCSS if it were doing it's job. Unfortunately it suffers from a culture of accepting failure, and seems to be encouraging it. Just what has anyone still employed within that system done to correct the all to obvious faults? Plus, lets deal with the internal corruption. Both the financial and the moral.

BSR..... proof ignorance is Bliss!
If you don't know something, then it can't affect your view of the world around you. If a person is completely ignorant of the truth, the contradicting information can't challenge their belief in what they believe to be the TRUTH about an imaginary agenda.
Being ignorant to certain horrid facts means you can continue being blissfully happy.
BSR and friends complain about the paper’s reporting Facts because they know, Public IGNORANCE is the government's best friend.
bubbasmithredneck 7 months, 3 weeks ago
Now that was ignorant Abytaxpayer and you know it.....nothing I said was false....it was the TRUTH ...especially the part about being found NOT GUILTY!! I'm not happy she was found NOT GUILTY, ...I'm happy the motivators behind this witch hunt FAILED......Due process played out and thats all you can ask for. It's just funny to laugh at you hateful people who are actually upset......get a life!!! Its over!!!

Exactly. If the people in positions of authority do their job honestly and with integrity, then praise and reward them. However, if there is a TREND of bad judgement decisions and incompetence, then hold them accountable. Remove them from their position, or find them another job to use whatever skills are attainable. Everyone contributes at different levels of achievement. This not only applies to the School system, but for every job holder; especially President Obama and his corrupt administration = time for them to be removed!!!!

The average high school ACT scores of people who are now teachers in Chicago was 19. The average ACT scores for all children in the State if Illinois is 21. I wonder if that comparison is available for Albany. And the pay for those low achievers in Chicago is $100,000 per year.

Apparently the documentation and facts which were presented did not rise to the threshold of guilt according to the the application of the rules of our jurisprudence. One of the reporters warned of that early on before the jury was charged. I became suspicious on learning prosecutor's witness tampered with the evidence (ostensibly incomplete application) and admitted they weren't instructed by Riggins to send it along violating the department's protocol. So the quagmire of deceit did provide Riggins with plausible deniability which I believe she intended from the outset in the event whe was caught. So her web of untruths worked for her and she will not receive ajudicatory punishment.
However, there are two findings which this ordeal has conclusively and incontrovertibly proven. The first is Velvet Riggins is dishonest and corrupt. Proven by her failure to return to complete/submit the application and secondly by receiving the free lunches for her children, hence accepting the payoff for her deceitful enterprise. The second sure fact is far more damnable and more meaningful for the Dougherty Citizens. That finding is that the entire system is corrupt and has been caught with its collective pants down. The judgement and punishment came from the GA DOE when millions of dollars were withheld and two on sight supervisors were required to oversee the expending of certain state and federal funds for various programs. Additionally, the monies slipped to Saba (and god knows whomever) and Washington for twaddle triggered the state's interest and helped conclude the DCSS was playing corrupt games with the funs dedicated to help poor children.

Smelling like roses. Have you smelled a rose lately? They have no smell, just like the hybrids that the black race has evolved to. We can have anything we want if we want it. My mother use to call it burning the candle at both ends and we know how that ends.

I still want to know WHY riggins filled out that second app!! 1. someone went back through the apps and saw hers wasn't filled out completely (highly unlikely) 2. she knew she committed fraud and got nervous when baker got busted.(i don't know the timeline of the baker bust and the filling of the 2nd app) 3. she knew she committed fraud, but felt guilty (highly unlikely) 4. she realized she forgot to fill in the income space, EVEN THOUGH SHE SIGNED THE APP!!!!!!! Anybody????
FryarTuk 7 months, 3 weeks ago
The jury believed it was an honest mistake. I agree with you though. Since she wasn't called to the stand and the jury made their decision we will never have her answer.

The jury. For those here who have been on jury duty in Dougherty County I'm pretty sure your experience was not much difference than mine. I've been on jury duty twice over the past 10 years. All I can say or ask is for everyone here to think about this a minute. What do you have when you put 12 people from Dougherty County in a room together and tell them they must all first, act like adults and be respectful of each other. Then second, all discuss and come together to make a decision based on all of the information and evidence they are given about the case. Have you thought about this scenario yet? Don't forget now, all 12 are from Dougherty County. All I will say is may God have mercy on us all. The jury and the person on trial.
