ALBANY -- Mrs. Lois Evon Carter Phillips, 77, of Albany died on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday September 26, 2012 from Avalon United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM with Rev. Ron Baxley and Rev. Dennis Lanning officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 25, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.
Mrs. Evon was born on October 2, 1934 to the late Casey Carter and Elton Grace Smith in Colquitt, GA. She was a member of Avalon United Methodist Church, Daughters of the Nile Tara Temple 150, The Albany Grandmothers Club and Women in Construction. She and her late husband Harold Phillips owned and operated Phillips Floor Covering.
Mrs. Evon is survived by a son Harold Marlin Phillips, Jr. and his wife Terrie of Albany, GA, two daughters Paige Phillips Bickerstaff of Leesburg, GA. and Pam Phillips Longshore of Albany, GA. Two brothers Danny Carter and Jerry Carter both of Colquitt, GA. two sisters Mable Richardson of Colquitt, Ga. and Sharolyn Tabb of Tallahassee, Fl. Six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 40 years Harold Phillips and three brothers Jimmy Carter, Glenn Carter and Otis Carter.
