Yep we submitted it to Ripley’s Believe it or NOT and they rejected the story saying there is NO way they could ever fool anyone with that story.

When's the school system going on that field trip to Atlanta?
lynn227 7 months, 4 weeks ago
When the county can raise your taxes enough to pay for it. We're just about there.

34 Superintendent of the year. Comedy at it's best.

The halls roared with laughter. Good one!

Maybe he will actually get it and then we can be the butt of jokes for the whole state and not just this area. The bow tie is enough to bring about a round of laughs. They already think we are a bunch of uneducated bimbos, now they will know.
Citizen_A 7 months, 4 weeks ago
I won't be getting my hopes up...And if the bow tie doesn't get them the "I smell something rotten in Denmark" look will....

That story gave me a good laugh and made my Monday, but didn't we all get a good laugh then? I think the Squawk of the Day picker should have chosen a better squawk.

Funny how certain squeeks get more comments then important issues . I wont be surprised as surprised as i was when i read the head line on this if he actually is nominated.
FlunkyMonkey 7 months, 4 weeks ago
nofreeloader==he WAS nominated. And, as I understand it, he is a FINALIST!! Think about the implications of that one.
rightasrain 7 months, 4 weeks ago
According to the letter Murfree received, (as quoted in the Albany Herald) he was nominated by a subordinate (I wonder whose idea that was), but he did not make the top four.

Finalists Listed Here
Finalists decided in August. Interesting how the Herald thought this was front page news a month after the fact. Perhaps they just like stirring the pot?
PatrickY2K 7 months, 4 weeks ago
Dr. Murfree just received the letter six days ago. The school system announced the nomination two days ago. The Herald is not "stirring the pot."
Goseer and/or Murfree should have known that submitting this nomination would receive this kind of attention. Murfree being nominated for anything at this point is ridiculous.
Only a few more months until his contract ends!

And the country say's "Albany has their village idiot."
waltspecht 7 months, 4 weeks ago
The Idiot would be the one nominating him. Especially if he actually read the criteria before making the nomination. What people need to ask is how much paid school time was involved in preparing and proof reading this nonination. Would be real interesting to actually read what it said and then determine which Teacher actually wrote it for the Assistant Superintendant.

Don't they have enough for you to do in Dawson? Has Hardees closed?

He works there, he doesnt live there... duh.

He deserves it considering he has to put up with all the hate. If y'all really cared, get into the schools and get involved. There are many mentoring and tutoring opportunities available. Set up organizations that teach morals and values that the majority of the youth aren't getting. There are so many things that can be done. Lets refocus on how we can get better versus dragging down and humiliating the entire community.
tywebb 7 months, 4 weeks ago
I, for one, appreciate your optimism. I taught in dcss for 13 years before moving on (i still own property in albany which is why i pay attention to what's going on). and you're right, the schools need more volunteers. BUT, commenting on an online newspaper site is NOT what's dragging down and humiliating the entire community......that's being done by the ones in charge of the circus.
theworkingclass23 7 months, 4 weeks ago
It represents what is fundamentally wrong with the city and the school system. Negativity is not a cure, it spreads the epidemic. I've been a part of many organizations, teams and clubs. Great leadership is essential, I agree. But I've experienced much success and work in spite of poor leadership. It takes great attitude and commitment and we don't demonstrate either. If they are blogging it, they are spreading it.
VSU 7 months, 4 weeks ago
If the school system cleaned up it's act then perhaps people would not be making negative comments at them, but surely you can't expect people to brag about this school system with all the things that are happening. Bottom line it is what it is. If the school system looks like a circus, acts like a circus, then it is more likely a circus, and the circus is where you usually find clowns, and we have a bunch of clowns running this circus.
tywebb 7 months, 4 weeks ago
working in spite of poor leadership is exactly what all of the teachers do every day!
lynn227 7 months, 4 weeks ago
People also read the papers and visit online news sites to get the pulse of a community. They learn volumes from what we give them to read.
Abytaxpayer 7 months, 4 weeks ago
The23.... I know you are trying to be serious but Please you should be preaching to the Problem causers NOT the people who are running out of the building yelling Fire run for your lives. An if you think about it seriously, the ones who need the refocus are #34 and his gang of Four. They alone are single handedly dragging down the entire community and it is the community that should be standing up and saying "We Have Had Enough of your Sh!T" That is NOT "HATE" it is disgust. Public ignorance is #34 and the gang of four's BEST Friend.
lynn227 7 months, 4 weeks ago
Anyone who can keep moving when they are hated by so many...I have to admire that spirit. You're right, people should be volunteering instead of posting poisonous responses.
MRKIA 7 months, 4 weeks ago
PLEASE, PLEASE COME UP WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE SAME OLD WORN OUT DO-NOTHING IDEA OF SETTING UP SOME LAME ORGANIZATION. AS YOU SAY, THER ARE MANY MENTORING AND TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES AVAILIABLE ALREADY. TRY PUTTING THE RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY WHERE IT BELONGS: THE SORRY A$$ MAMAS AND DADDIES. THE BEGINNING IS IN THE HOME. NO ONE HATES THIS MAN, BUT MANY DO HATE THE SORRY JOB HE HAS DONE SO FAR. WHEN HIS CONTRACT IS UP SEND HIM PACKING.
theworkingclass23 7 months, 4 weeks ago
And that's exactly why organizations are set up. We have to compensate for students lack of guidance. Teachers have to deal with 25+ in a class that dont have any guidance, belief, desire, love, work ethic, discipline, etc. I can go on. We always wanna point a finger at one person and say fix it or you are the reason we're not successful. I haven't been to a school yet where teachers aren't busting their butts to do a great job. We have to generate ideas and work as a community to fix this situation.

He deserves it????

I think they should decide the winner based on a spelling and grammar contest. A public event such as that would expose him once and for all.

Wow, Goseer has been busy lately, nominating #34... and I got this off the the original story:
TheBoss 12 hours, 22 minutes ago Goseer is a very hard working assistant Superintendent, He was able to get his wife a job at DCSS as a media specialist with no experience at all.
Wow, do tell all you know... :)
change 7 months, 4 weeks ago
Now here I am with the right credentials: 16 years of library experience, a B.S. in Library and Information Services, and enrolled in a Media Specialist program and couldn't find a job anywhere. I was told that they wanted someone with teaching experience, well I went and got teaching experience and still no job. I am tired of "who you know" being the main criteria for getting a job in this area. (not just Albany),
Clif 7 months, 4 weeks ago
The inmates are running the asylum, not only in the DCSS, but in the entire county & city....
tywebb 7 months, 4 weeks ago
looks like sister_ruby OR agirl_25 got their squawk published! congratulations
Sister_Ruby 7 months, 4 weeks ago
It wasn't me. I was too busy laughing to be able to put a squawk in. Don't y'all expect that Goseer submitted Murfree's name........UNDER DIRECTION FROM MURFREE? I do, since nobody has any autonomy in the DCSS unless under direct orders from THE BIG BOSS MAN.
Jimboob 7 months, 4 weeks ago
On the bright side... If he had won maybe some other school system would have made an offer he couldn't refuse.
VSU 7 months, 4 weeks ago
Good one Jimboob, with that in mind, instead of us laughing at Murfree, we should have been supporting him and encourage the ones who vote on Superintendent of the year that Murphee is the man of the hour and has done a tremendous job in his short term. As Jimboob stated, someone may be dumb enough to give him a better deal and lure him away from Albany.
But who would they hire next?..... #33?
tywebb 7 months, 4 weeks ago
33 would've been too qualified. #35 would do the trick
chinaberry25 7 months, 4 weeks ago
Wonder how much the DCSS paid a tutor to get hi, certified. This is something that he should have paid out of his pocket and he may have, but I doubt it.
