LEESBURG — The Lee County softball team picked up a big win Tuesday on Senior Night, beating Northside Columbus, 6-3, and saying farewell to seniors Paiton Cromer, Brandi Blount and Lauren Davis.
Erin Callaway earned the win, giving up nine hits and one walk. Callaway added a 2-for-2, one RBI outing, while Cromer was 2-for-4, Ashley Morris had a hit and an RBI and Ashley Nichols was 2-for-3. Blount also scored a run.
Lee next hosts Harris County on Friday in Leesburg.
RANDOLPH SOUTHERN 5, CRISP ACADEMY 3: In a battle of unbeaten GISA Region 3-AA teams, Randolph Southern emerged, 5-3, against Crisp Academy on top thanks to ace Madison Ragan, who matched her season-high with 16 strikeouts.
Gabi Jackson led the Lady Patriots at the plate with a pair of singles and two RBI, while Braylie Blanton added a double and two RBI, Dana McCarter had a double and an RBI and Ragan had two hits.
Randolph Southern (12-2, 10-0) plays again Saturday in Valdosta against Georgia Christian.
DOUGHERTY 19, DOOLY COUNTY 0, (3): The Lady Trojans (11-4) got big days at the plate from Ra’Keta Shelton (3-for-3, two inside-the-park HRs, 3B, seven RBI), Takiya Davis (2-for-2, 3B, three RBI), Reshonda Taylor (3-for-3, three RBI) and De’Shaara Brunson (2-for-2, two RBI), who also earned the win on the mound, striking out three and allowing just one hit.
Dougherty, which is tied for third in 1-AAAA, next hosts second-place Cairo in a key region game Tuesday.
SHERWOOD 13, BROOKWOOD 1: The Lady Eagles cruised to a GISA Region 3-AAA victory Thursday, staying perfect in the region standings.
Anna Laine Brock threw three hitless innings, struck out seven and had two this and two runs at the plate.
Emily Everson (3 hits, 3 RBI, 2 runs), Jamie McPherson (2 RBI), Kailynn Gore (2 hits, 2 RBI, 3 runs) and Christen Fuller (2 runs) also had good days at the plate for the Lady Eagles, who are now 9-0 in the region and play again Thursday at home against Tiftarea.
SGA 8, DWS 4: Southwest Georgia’s Allison Warren threw a complete game Wednesday to help the Lady Warriors improve to 20-8 overall and 5-4 in GISA Region 3-AAA.
Warren also had two doubles and two RBI, while Kendyl Carver had two doubles and two RBI and Katie Carver was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Deerfield was led at the plate by Hannah Mills (2-for-3, triple, single, 2 RBI) and Kelsey King (double). The Lady Warriors finish up their regular season slate Thursday at home against Brookwood.
WESTWOOD 12, HIGHLAND CHRISTIAN 4: Westwood pitcher Claire Collins struck out two and allowed seven hits, and the Lady Wildcats picked up a decisive GISA Region 3-AA victory Wednesday.
Five Westwood batters had multi-hit games: Tatum Brown (3-for-3, single, double, triple, 2 runs), Sage Sandefur (3-for-4, 4 stolen bases, 3 runs), Lindsey Bowles (2-for-4, 2 stolen bases, double, 2 runs), Hannah Hinesley (2-for-3, run) and Julie Briggs (2-for-3).
The Lady Wildcats improved to 11-7 overall and 8-3 in the region and play again Thursday at home against Crisp Academy with second place in the region at stake.
