DAWSON -- Myrtle Mims Smith, 78, of Parrott, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Webster County, with interment to follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Robert Orr and Rev. Raymond Smith will officiate.
Myrtle was born in Terrell County on April 1, 1934 and lived here most of her life. She spent her work career primarily as a seamstress and bookkeeper. She obtained great joy from cooking, sewing, and fishing with family and friends. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Ray A. Smith; father, Robert L. Mims; and siblings, Bobby Mims and Joyce Mims Bethea.
Survivors include her mother, Virginia T. Mims of Parrott; children, Andy Smith (Sandra) of Unadilla, Carole Davis (Glenn) of Dawson, and Kenny Smith (Helen) of Marietta; siblings, Glynn Mims, Norene Pritchard, and Gayle Morgan; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
