ALBANY, Ga. — A boiled peanut sale is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today to benefit a former Lee County resident who needs a lung transplant.
The sale will take place at The Express Lane, 1505 Philema Road, Leesburg.
Yvonne Jones, 57, now lives in Ocala, Fla., after recently moving from Lee County.
Family members say she needs $16,000 to be listed on the transplant list at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla.
She recently was diagnosed with lung disease just after obtaining her college degree to become an occupational therapy assistant.

Our hopes and prayers are with Ms. Jones. Also hope that everyone realizes how absurd it is that many of us in America have to deal with illness by doing things like selling peanuts. Affordable healthcare cannot come soon enough!
