ALBANY -- Charles Alvin Rush, 63, of Gulf Port, MS, formerly of Albany, GA, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 after a motorcycle accident.

His memorial service will be Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern with burial of his cremated remains to follow at Floral Memory Gardens with military honors. The Rev. Cathy Green will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.

Mr. Rush served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was riding his bike doing what he loved and where he found peace. Mr. Rush was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Lee Rush (Salt Lake City, UT). He attended the second grade at Highland Elementary School in Albany.

Mr. Rush is the son of Navy Retired Chief HMC Charlie D. Rush and Nell Mizzelle Rush, formerly of Albany, now living in Dunedin, FL. Other survivors include his sister, Stacy Rush, Dunedin, FL; daughter, Misty Dawn Rush; a granddaughter, Rebecca Neal; a step daughter, Jessie Landrum, Saucier, MS; 2 nephews, David Ostrander, Tampa, FL and L/CPL Stephen Ostrander, USMC, currently serving his second tour as a combat engineer in Afghanistan; his aunts and uncles, Maxine Mizzelle Belk and Johnny Belk (USMC during WWII), Albany, Alva Mizzelle Williams and Larry Williams, Jacksonville, NC, Deborah Mizzelle Kiss and Joseph Kiss, Norfolk, VA.
