ALBANY -- Marguerite Webb Corr left for breakfast with her Lord on Easter Morning, March 31, 2013.
Her funeral service will be 3 PM Wednesday (today), April 3, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:15 PM in Ford Hall at First United Methodist Church.
Born January 1, 1919 in Leslie, GA to Windsor William Webb and Mattie Reese Wilson Webb, she grew up in a small town the middle child with two loving sisters.
She graduated from Union High School, Georgia Southwestern College and received her BS in Home Economics from the University of Georgia in 1939. She moved to Lumpkin, GA and started teaching at Lumpkin High School in Stewart County. While staying at Ms. Ballard's Boarding House she met her future husband, a traveling insurance salesman, John P. Corr. They married August 3, 1941 and started their lives together in Cuthbert, GA. They moved to Albany in 1943. She resided in the same home until she moved to Morningside Assisted Living 6 years ago.
She was a faithful member First United Methodist Church teaching and playing piano for children's Sunday School. She was a member of the Eleanor Hawk Sunday School Class. She was also a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She continued her education later in life by obtaining her Library Science Degree and becoming a Librarian at Mamie Brosnan Elementary School. She influenced many students in the impoverished area of our city in such a positive way. She then retired early to help care for her husband who was in ill health.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John P. Corr, Sr., older sister Lenoir Shiver, younger sister, Eulalia Hodge.
She is survived by her son, John Price Corr, Jr., M.D. and wife Terry, 3 grandchildren, John Price Corr III, Cliff Corr and wife Mary Brenna, Mary Elizabeth Corr Ware and husband Klint.
