ALBANY, Ga. — Prince Automotive has acquired Beck Motor Co., who has been doing business as Tri-State Peterbilt. Prince officials say the business will be called Peterbilt of Albany, 1707 S. Slappey Blvd., and Peterbilt of Tifton, 1612 U.S. Highway 82 West, Tifton.
The acquisition adds to Prince’s line of Class 8 heavy-duty and Class 7 medium-duty trucks and will increase the company’s market share of trucks on the highway, Prince officials said.
With Volvo, which Prince already has at its Tifton truck center, and Peterbilt combining to comprise 30 percent of the heavy-duty market, the two locations are expected to enhance Prince’s position as a heavy-duty truck dealer that is able to service nearly one-third of the trucks on the highway. Service and parts departments will be at both locations.
All Albany personnel will be retained, prince officials said, and about six new jobs at both locations are expected to be created.
