ADDU busts two meth labs within three-hour period

ALBANY, GA. -- The Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit made six arrests in two different meth lab busts Tuesday. According to ADDU commander Maj. Bill Berry, it marked first dual meth lab arrests in one day that he'd seen over the past 10 years.

Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit Commander Maj. Bill Berry displays evidence collected from one of two meth lab busts in the the county on Tuesday. The busts were just three hours apart and Berry said it was the first time in nearly 10 years the ADDU had two on the same day.

According to Berry, the first arrests occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Radium Springs Road when Dougherty County Police officers pulled over a pick up truck driven by James Adam, 20. Officers noticed the smell of marijuana and began a search of the vehicle. At that time the front seat passenger, Wyatt Lastinger, 38, took flight and was apprehended after he was tased.

A further search revealed the components of a rolling meth lab and ADDU was called to the scene. Adams, Lastinger and passenger Brenda Waller, 20, were charged with manufacturing meth and possession of meth with intent to distribute.

In addition, Lastinger was charged with a parole violation, giving a false name and having outstanding warrants against him.

Three hours later, the ADDU, acting on a tip from Georgia probation officials, raided room number 256 at the Superior Creek Lodge, 2505 N. Slappey Blvd., where they found meth making materials.

The officers arrested Randall Scott Bedford, 32, Desiree Lynn Bane, 54, and Arthur Lee Wright III, 23. Bedford and Bane were charged with manufacturing and possession of meth with intent to distribute, while Wright was charged with giving false information to law enforcement.

All six individuals in both cases were booked into the Dougherty County Jail.

"The individuals in the Radium Springs Road case had all the meth-making materials, but had not yet started the cooking process," Berry said. "It was not a large operation, more of a 'mom and pop' thing where they'd just cook enough to use then sell the rest to make some more."

Berry said the Superior Creek suspects had been in the room for "around a week and it was slightly larger than just a mom and pop operation. We found finished product hidden in the ceiling."

The commander added that this was the first time in nearly a decade that two county meth labs had been broken up on the same day."

"It's really rare for this drug unit to see two meth lab busts in one day," Berry said. "We had three in one day about 10 years ago, but those cases were related. These two were not."

It's all a Crime. In Michael Jackson's words: "It doesn't matter if it's Black or White."

In the above post you said it doesn't matter if it's black or white, then 3 minutes later you are saying "Ah, white peoples" Whatta you know! What a hypocrite!

What difference does it make if the people are black or white? People make a big issue about, Blacks commit this type crime, Whites does this type drugs etc. People of all races commits crime and does drugs. Crime is crime! We are no better off eliminating black crime as we are white crime. A victim dying from a gunshot is no more alive from being shot from a white person than he was from a black person.

It may not make a difference to you VSU, and it shouldn't.... anybody making or doing whatever it is people do with this meth, molly, and the like should be charged arrested and persecuted....but to Sister Ruby that's all it is ever about....still never did see a comment from Ruby Ealum when his picture was in the paper.....lol

A person should be charged arrested and persecuted no matter what crime they committed or drug they are dealing with, whether it's meth, crack cocaine etc.

Sister Ruby is not Ealum! She is intelligent and witty!

You are correct. However, look at the comments when a black person commits a crime. If crime is crime, shouldnt those same type of comments be posted on this blog?

They are posted, but some people just read what they want to read.

I love the way criminals get caught breaking a "Junior" law and immediately graduate to getting charged with a "Senior" law when the arresting officers teach them a more detailed lesson in law enforcement techniques.

For example, what better way to attract attention to yourself than smoking a joint or two in the confines of the very same pickup truck you are using as a rolling meth lab!

The amazing stupidity of the whole thing is they get a little high and begin to feel invisible and then they start to think Cops have no sense of smell.

Wyatt Lastinger had a parole violation, gave a false name to police officers and was wanted on outstanding warrants. The others should be put under the jail for just riding around with him. His last statement to the police was in form of a question, "If I lose 40 pounds do you think I can outrun that taser?"

If you took all six of those clowns and put their thought processes together you would still be short by a half a brain.
