Mrs. Lauderdale was born on the family farm in Decatur County, GA. As a young girl, she often helped her father drive a mule wagon, leaving at night, from the farm to the Hand Trading Co. in Pelham to sell cotton. She would ride a horse from the farm to Vada to get supplies for her mother. Mrs. Lauderdale moved to Albany in 1960, and she worked with Rosenberg's, and later with Gilberg's. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ. She was active in the Republican Party, receiving special recognition for her service. She was a multi-talented and very artistic person. Mrs. Lauderdale was preceded in death by her first husband, Fount H. Horne, and by her second husband, Quentin D. Lauderdale. Mrs. Lauderdale's daughters were left the legacy first and foremost, of following Christ and raising their children in a church family. She instilled in them the importance of celebrating every holiday and birthday together. She loved setting the table with flowers from her garden, ironed and starched linens, and creative centerpieces. She believed in living in a beautiful environment everyday using the resources at hand. Mrs. Lauderdale taught them of graciousness and hospitality and giving to those less fortunate. She especially loved entertaining the missionaries visiting her church She was proud of her southern heritage which often meant that hard work was always preferred to idleness She was a patriot and taught her family to honor their God given rights and never take them for granted.
