ALBANY, Ga. — A man suddenly opened the door of an auto parked downtown on Washington Street on Friday and attempted to snatch the ignition keys, officials with the Albany Police Department said.
According to her report, Shakenya Frost, 23, was sitting in the passenger seat of the vehicle when an unknown man opened the door and grabbed for the car keys. Frost told police that she and the intruder struggled briefly before he ran away.
Frost said the suspect had dark skin and wore jeans and a black or dark blue jacket with a hood.
APD scoured the area and had a suspect Friday evening, but no charges had been filed. Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, said the suspect was determined to speak only Creole or French and officials were seeking an interpreter.
