TY TY, Ga. -- Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough has announced the arrest of Adrian Lamar Golson, 33, of Ty Ty, in connection to a shooting death that took place in October.
Golson is charged with murder in connection with the Oct. 27 fatal shooting of Arlester Jackson, 35, also of Ty Ty.
Scarbrough said that a deputy received information that Golson was at a residence in Ty Ty. A group of deputies went to the residence at approximately 7 a.m. Sunday.
A female came to the door and when asked if Golson was there, she replied he was not. Deputies made entry and found him hiding in a closet, officials from the sheriff's office say.
Scarbrough said Golson was arrested without incident.
The female resident of the home, Mattie Mae Monroe, 27, of Ty Ty, was also arrested and is being charged with hindering the apprehension of a fugitive.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the sheriff's office with the investigation.
Initial reports on the shooting show that law enforcement was dispatched to 4668 U.S. Highway 82 West in Ty Ty in reference to a person who had been fatally wounded by a bullet some time between 10 p.m. and 10:20 p.m. on Oct. 27.
Within two days of the shooting, warrants had been issued on Golson in connection to the crime.
