ALBANY, Ga. — The city's third murder of the year happened over night when a man was shot to death in East Albany.

Albany Police Spokesperson Phyllis Banks says that Terry Mack, a 44-year-old black male, was shot and killed on the 200 block of Cone Street around 11:30 Thursday night. Banks says investigators believe he was sitting in his 1997 Chevy Blazer when someone approached the vehicle and shot into the vehicle.

The area around Mayfair Trailer Park has proven to be a nuisance for the APD's robbery/homicide unit. In January, Anthony Williams was shot following a dispute on the 200 block of Cone Street. Police say the suspect, 62-year-old Eddie Banks, fired a weapon at least three times at Williams, he was struck at least once but survived his injuries.

Later in the evening, police responded to a report of a suspicious person at 110 East Road and found 45 year-old Herbert Williams Jr. in a grassy area near a carport where he had collapsed after staggering down the road after having been shot multiple times. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.

I'm new to Albany, hopefully my job will let me transfer soon. Albany is a decaying city with entitlement and murder issue. Typical Democratic strong hold.

Good luck. I cannot imagine what it must be like to live in Albany. I thankfully, don't and won't even go to the city to shop. You are correct in what you said about the city decaying. As I said, good luck to you.

Lee county, Sumpter county, and Taylor county conducted a major operation and closed the net on a lot of folks who thought they were above the law. Why would you let such a small area continue to cause such a big problem. Ask for help, get the feds involved, sounds to me like you have enough cause to start putting RICO cases together. Hold the property owners feet to the fire. The jump out boys are chomping at the bit to do something about this. When you call down the thunder, these folks will start pointing fingers and naming names. It happens every day.

Small area? Are you referring to East Albany in general or the trailer park/neighborhood? I notice nothing was mentioned about the drive by shootings that occurred on the west side of town (three in twenty four hours) which left two dead. THAT is the other TWO MURDERS (one neighborhood one night one drive by) that goes with this one. To single out one particular neighborhood is unfair.

Your right flunky, don't single out e.albany when the whole city is a dump.

Wasn't that drive by shooting a couple of weeks ago? It was all over the news.

What the heck is unfair about that flunkey. West side or east side, does it really matter? Any time something like this transpires, it automatically cast a negative light on the on the surrounding area. Whats worse is that everyone seems to develop amnesia when the investigators seek help in trying tomake their neighborhood safer. The very same people who are now seeking justice and want the killer caught, are the ones that didn't see a durn thing when Joe Blow was gunned down in a previous homicide. Now it has come full circle and that no snitch mentality has come back to haunt them.
