Lake Seminole — Bass are good. Stumpy areas are productive. Grass beds have also produced some good largemouths. Look for bass to move to the migration “ditches” this month. Use Texas-rigs around the stumps, paddle-tail worms near the hydrilla, and Carolina-rigs elsewhere. Bream fishing is fair. Shellcrackers are biting fairly well. Seek them in shallow water and fish earthworms on the bottom. Hybrids are fair near creek mouths. Crappies are improving. Fish ledges with minnows. Catfish are fair up the Chattahoochee.
Lake Walter F. George — Bass are good. Fish are holding on shallow ledges at 8 to 20 feet. Best ledges are in areas with brushy cover. Crankbaits and spinnerbaits are the best lures in these locations. Also fish shallow flats with tube baits, jigs, and spinnerbaits. Bream fishing is good. Shellcrackers are biting well. Right now they are in 3 to 8 feet of water near live wood structure. Crappies are fair and most fish are deep. The best catches will come from ledges at 15 to 25 feet. Small jigging spoons are good baits. Hybrids are slow.
Flint River — Largemouth bass have improved and shoal bass are cooperating with some anglers. Some pretty good shoalies may show up near the dams and the downstream fishing is steadily improving as the weather warms. Crappie sizes continue to be good, though stringers are not showing many fish. Bream are still reported as slow overall with few large concentrations located. White bass and hybrids continue to improve as schools increase near the dams. Catfish are fair.
Lake Blackshear — Bream are slow, but catfish have picked up and are fair to good in places. Crappies are very good in quality and fair in quantity. Seek out the shallower creek ledges and use minnows or jigs. Stripers are improving and schooling action is on the increase. Bass fishermen should keep a rigged spoon or Rat-L-Trap handy for surfacing fish. Largemouths seem a little more concentrated lately and a few larger fish have shown up for some anglers. Catfish are fair.
