DCSS suspends Monroe administrator

ALBANY, Ga. — In another sign that the Dougherty County School system is serious about cracking down on policy violations, Interim Superintendent Butch Mosely last week suspended a Monroe High School assistant principal for violations of testing policy protocols.

Willie Presley was suspended for five days without pay and will be relocated to another site/location for the remainder of the 2012-13 school year, which ends May 6.

The Albany Herald obtained a copy of Presley's suspension notification. In it, Mosely wrote: "On April 12, 2013 your principal, Dr. Valerie Thomas, informed me you had not followed the strict district guidelines for test administration of the SLO (Student Learning Objectives) and that you were warned about such actions on two previous occasions. Because of your inappropriate actions, you will be suspended without pay for five days."

Presley's suspension came just before South Georgia Regional Achievement Center Principal John I. Davis was suspended Monday for not following board policy by failing to request a background check on a school volunteer who was later arrested on child molestation charges involving a 14-year-old female SGRAC student.

"It is the expectation of the Board of Education and the Superintendent that every employee upholds the highest level of professionalism," Mosely wrote to Presley. "If there are any incidents in the future you will face serious consequences and possible termination. I trust there will be no further problems."

Who is bubbsmithredneckdope going to blame this one on?

They should close Monroe instead of the other 3 schools. Its crazy that all of the principals at Monroe names have been in the limelight these past few months.

Gee, Mr. Mosely--I hope you realize that you are stepping on some mighty big toes within the "Good Ole Boy" system of the DCSS. They are not going to like this. The good teachers within the DCSS and the citizens of Albany-Dougherty County surely will appreciate your actions.

I really do not think that Dr. Mosley cares if he steps on the good ole boys toes right now. Dr. Mosley is a man on a mission finally restore DCSS to order, and restore the system's reputation.

I don't think he cares whose toes he steps on. He isn't supposed to care. This is the process used before in industry. You bring in a person to clean up and then is replaced after he has made most everyone upset at him and his replacement can appear more conciliatory. It appears though that the people who count, the taxpayer really like this one. Thank you doctor.
