ATHENS — Georgia may soon be known as the new Running Back U.

The Bulldogs, who already have two of the brightest RBs in the nation — sophomores Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley — picked up the nation’s No. 2 rushing recruit Friday when South Florida prep star Sony Michel (Plantation, Fla./American Heritage) announced live on ESPNU that he was headed to Georgia.

“The school for me is the University of Georgia, and I knew it was the right place for me the first time I set foot on campus,” Michel said during his ESPN announcement. “It was a little different for me when I got on campus, but I felt comfortable there, almost like I was still at home.”

Michel rushed 1,825 yards and 18 touchdowns and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns in 2010 — as an eighth grader on the varsity team. He followed it up with 1,730 yards and 21 touchdowns his freshman season and last year ran for 1,264 yards and 18 touchdowns on only 130 carries.
