ALBANY, Ga. -- The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia and the Southwest Georgia Area Health Education Center are set to sponsor a webinar in the coming weeks for health care workers regarding decision-making by men and their significant others during the early stages prostate cancer.
The target audience for the webinar, scheduled for noon-1 p.m. on June 6, will be nurse practitioners, nurses and other health care providers. The objectives, coordinators of the program say, are to review the background and theoretical framework on decision-making in health care; analyze decision-making processes and outcomes by men and their significant others from a study focused on early-stage prostate cancer and apply research to clinical practice and public health settings.
The speaker will be Theresa Gillespie, associate professor for the Emory University School of Medicine Department of Surgery. She also serves as an associate professor in the institution's hematology and medical oncology department as well as a clinical associate at the Emory Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.
SOWEGA-AHEC is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Georgia Nurses Association, and as such, the webinar will allow for one contact hour for those needing to take advantage of the continuing education component, coordinators of the webinar say.
Conference room or group viewings are encouraged. To register, go to http://sowega-ahec-ccsg1.eventbrite.com. For information, call (229) 439-7185.
