So how is that Muslim thing working out for you? O yea he is fixing the programs for the poor....He is adding more and more poor.
Why is it NOT Christian to want to KEEP some of the money YOU earn but it is Christian to want to take someone else’s money?
"It is better to steal from you than give from me", so sayeth the liberal, many of which are Democrats, the rest are Communists and Republicans gone bad.
Yeah let's kill 'em all and then 100% Democrats will be in office and we can raise the Deficit to TEN QUAZILLION DOLLARS A YEAR AND WE'LL ALL BE RICH AND DRIVE BMW'S OR MERCEDES (WE CAN ALL HAVE 3 BLACK MERCEDES SEDANS IN OUR DRIVEWAY IF WE WANT TO) AND WHO KNOWS WHAT WE CAN ACCOMPLISH THEN AS A NATION????
WE CAN ALL SIT OUR BIG FAT BUTTS ON THE FRONT PORCH EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK AND WAIT FOR THE MAIL MAN TO BRING US OUR CHECKS!!!!!!
LIFE WILL BE EXCELLENT AND WE WILL ALL HAVE THE REPARATIONS THAT WE SO DEARLY DESERVE IN RETURN FOR ABSOLUTELY FRICKING NOTHING!
What's with the new moniker, Sis?
I used to "Login using Google" but the Herald either took that means of signing on away or they have a technical glitch that they haven't/can't fix.
I still love you. I need a new username so that my posts appear in under two hours. :)
Maybe they blocked you, Sis! After all, how long can one disagree with Fletcher and company before having to pay the piper? lol
O O I can answer that one. I have been under “moderator approval” for a mth now. I have been active on here for more than a year but step on "Someone's" toes and you get put in " moderator approval”.
I've been under moderator approval for 8 or 9 months now.
One out of five people receive food stamps under our dictator 's watch. 47% pay no income tax. Who is going to fix that? Are all Republicans Christians and Democrats not?
Don't want to be poor? Get off your lazy you know what & get a job like all us repulicans. We already support half you useless libtards we can't afford to support you all. This squack is how obumma supporters think.
You tell 'em, Sister!
Some of that 47% pay for their own education, food, shelter, healthcare from the money they earn from going to work everyday. I paid 14,000 dollars in healthcare costs not counting continuing education(8,000 dollars)costs for my job etc. I do not get any form of government assistance. You bet I write those costs off and for the first time ever, I paid zero in taxes.. I work 60 hours a week. My tiny house and 15 year old car are paid off. Before you write in these forums, you should think about people like me. Your statement is not quite accurate regarding all of the 47%.
You are one of the few. This is what the system is supposed to be set up for.
There are people who collect welfare all year. and still receive $3,000 to $6,000 in tax "refunds" each year. This is what must stop.
You have a good accountant. And high health costs that will only get higher with Obamacare.
You speak of Christian values. The USA reeks of Christian values, but the Bible tells you that you will always have the poor. As a Christian, how many out of wedlock babies do you have? This is the very first indicator of poorism. Look at your life before you cast stones before swine. It is not the place for hardworking Americans, and there are rich Democrats too, to have to support you and you bad habits. A economics professor once stated that you could divide all the money in American to every man woman and child and within 5 years the same ones would have it back. It is no free ride in this world and you made a choice of how you wanted to live your life. Life would have given you what you asked for, but it will not give you one penny more.It was and still is there for the taking, but not out of other folks pockets. Did you ever stop to think it is not the Republicans but the Democratic way of thinking. Go see the movie Dr., Zhivago and see what happened to Russia.
What problems, exactly, that affect programs for the poor is the Squawker talking about? If you want to start a serious discussion, state facts and numbers, not just vague liberal talking points.
Thank you Sister Ruby. You have said it all and even though many of us have worked all our lives to have something, that will soon be gone. Example: the recent book signing and the moderator for that event. Every working American had better watch their back, front and sides until true Americans can replace the problems we have in Congress and State Government through elections.
Actually, I think we can credit the Democrats with initiating the vote last week. Sequester was the President's idea. He wanted it, got it and used it to "inflinct the highest degree of pain" on the public (his words). Those Democrats up for re-election in '14 are scared to death that Obama is going to take them down with him.
Why do you keep blaming Obama for the sequestor? You Republicans created the debt "crisis", and then tried to force the administration to give your wealthiest members their tax cuts, while demanding cuts to all of our social programs to pay for it. And the only reason the sequestor passed was because you Republicans insisted on it. REMEMBER?
An internal government email sent Monday instructed an official with a subdivision of the U.S. Department of Agriculture to make sure that sequester-related cuts inflict as much pain as possible to make sure “you are not contradicting what we said the impact would be.”
Sequester: we are talking about a less than 4% cut. F-O-U-R percent! Furloughs were unnecessary. The FAA was simply doing Obama's bidding...inflicting as much pain as possible on the public. Don't whine because the House called O's bluff!
And, the Democratic-lead Senate initiated the bill to end the FAA furloughs. Those up for re-election in '14 are scared to death that they will go down with Obama for supporting his agenda.
GG126 - YOU hit the nail on the head "while demanding cuts to all of our social programs " - - YEP we taxpayer's must owe you something.... now why is it we need all the 'social programs'? DEADBEATS
You should read up on the sequester. It came from the Whitehouse. Taxes were increased on the wealthy in October 2012. Obama wanted to increase them more in Jan. 2013. Look to other news sites beyond MSNBC.
It is said that we should work for what we get, not wait on some one else to work and support us. But this country is so full of people as Sister said that want it all for nothing.
The squawker asks what are they doing to "fix the poor". I don't know what they are actually doing, but to "fix the poor" is to provide "opportunities" that they can pay back through education, job training, or vocational training so they can have competitive job skills so they can employ themselves, work for a living instead of mooching off those who do work for a living.
WORK is for man to provide a means of dignity for him and a means to support his family.
All of our various welfare programs are meant to be a safety net, they are NOT meant to be a "way of life". In the words of the late Sen. Everett Dirksen; "when you pay people to be poor, your going to have a lot of poor people".
Dirksen was a genius.
Voters in this country follow partisanship to the poor house.
Who says republicans are for the rich and democrats for the poor.
1. Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.): $188.6 million
Rep. Darrel Issa (R-Calif.): $160.1 million
Rep. Jane Harman (D-Calif.): $152.3 million
Sen. Jay Rockefeller ( D-W.Va.): $83.7 million
Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas): $73.8 million
Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.); $70.2 million
Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.): $56.5 million
Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.): $53.5 million
Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.): $49.7 million
Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-Calif.): $46.1 million
It seems the democrats prefer to give in taxes instead of directly to those that really do help the poor.
Check what each gives in charitable contributions each year. That will be eye opening. Joe Biden last year (as in prior years) gave under 2%. Typical liberal elite.
1D2EC....interesting post. Now you should go back and research how they became so wealthy. I know why Kerry's and Rockefeller's worth is so high, but am curious about the others. I especially wonder what Feinstein's worth was when she entered Congress as compared to now. Hmmmmm.....but really am curious about the others too.
You have got to wonder why, if they really believe in this supporting the poor, they haven't comitted at least half their personal wealth to those poor? Even at 1/2 they would still be rich. That would mean another 371 million for the poverty program.
What this reveals, though not current with the true worth of these folks, is that WE elect people who are incapable of representing us and shaping a nation on basic values of honesty, productivity(work that accomplishes), accountability (moral & fiscal) and normal life experiences.
If you want to learn the 50 richest persons on Capitol Hill go to the source, THE CONGRETIONAL QUARTERLY (CQ) ROLL CALL. Google: The 50 Richest Members of Congress 4/30/13.
Rep. Michael McCaul R-TX is the richest of all with ca. 295 million semoleons (§). The car thief guy Darrell Issa R-CA is #2 at $220M+ and you'll learn #3 former SEN John Kerry's (D-MA) wealth is attributable to his loverly bride TerRAYsa Heinz Kerry of catsup fame.
You do not see America when you look at these people. Not because of their wealth but because of their values. The American voters are following the partisans into the poor house.
For Obama so loved the poor, that he created more. Change is all we are going to have left.
Squawker, please do a little research on your thought process because it is obvious your thinking is flawed. For many years there have been over a hundred government programs designated to help the poor. Billions have been spent to help the poor, yet we still have more poor today than ever before.
If holding people accountable for their actions is a vertue of Republicans, then maybe you should re-evaluate your desire to hang on to your Democratic voting status. There have been problems with the character of individuals in both parties. However, we should consider the principles of what we desire for our nation and vote accordingly. For me, trying to take money from hard working people just to give to someone else who is not willing to make attempts to improve themselves is wasted resources and energy.
Republicans have the right idea. Their plan is to make you uncomfortable in your poverty. If you have to eat soup instead of T bones, or use pay phones rather than Obama phones, you'll be motivated to do better. So drive that Jaguar and have all those babies, the honeymoon will be over soon.
With your GA Peach Card you can buy steak!!! But I did get some hamburger meat with my hard earned cash!
...and saved hundreds on car insurance at G.E.I.C.O? (sorry, could not let it pass) and more money for Warren Buffet.....huh?
Listen to you crying with your mouth full.
If you are poor all of your energy should go towards becoming not poor. Energy spent blaming him or her is not constructive. Anyone remember watching Good Times? They were all about being to proud to take welfare and working hard to pay their bills. What happened to people like that? Turn off BET and watch some Good Times reruns
Guess What Folks, We are all to blame. Look in the mirror at yourself, then see how you can make the world a better place. No Excuse. Political Parties are pointless here, we as individuals are not !
Wonderfully profound. Now, how do we fix it?
Ah...simplistic solutions for complex problems....if it were so easy to do. Nice idea tho ZCorp but DRTexas is right...how do we fix it?
“If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it.”
The issue Jimboob seems to be with where to draw the line with helping the "truly needy", versus continually giving to those who only seem to want a handout. There is no commandment or directive that says help others "without condition", as you have stated.
For example, if you were totally committed to helping and serving the needy, then why do you have a computer to access this site? Should you give up all that you work for to help others (who do not want to work)to have just as much as you? As info, these questions are meant to bring pause for thought and not a direct slam on you. Helping those who are truly on hard times is one thing. Helping those who can help themselves to be self-sufficient is another. Even Christ told the farmers to leave the outer layers of their crops for the poor to COME to harvest. He did not say take these portions to the poor.
Nobody is against the poor, just the sorry lazy people that don't want to work to earn their own keep. If you are healthy enough to have 8 welfare babies, you are healthy enough to get your lazy @$$ a job. Helping the elderly and handicap is one thing, but being lazy, sorry and getting everything for free because you have no desire to work is another.
You have the elderly and handicapped in one group and then you have the gimme gimme gimmies in the other group. Guess which group Obama does more to help out?
My response is more in reference to the comments than to the squawk, but the people just like you and me need to forget about all the Democrat, Republican, liberal, and so on monikers if we care about the United States of America. I’m old enough to remember when everyone in the South voted Democrat, and by no means did that make every candidate or voter in this region a liberal. You had your political crooks then just as you do now, but I think there are two major differences between then and now. One those who went to Washington actually returned to live in the area they represented post office and two many people knew enough about history to blame the politician responsible. I don’t care for Obama, but regardless of who is in the White House, Congress alone has the power to fund or not fund any program they want. A President’s budget contains only suggestions. No new budget means the one last passed by Congress remains in force.
Yes sequestration came about because Obama asked Congress for it. What sequestration means, however, is that if Congress was unable or unwilling to make the decisions on what to cut, then instead of having a say as to how what gets cut, an across the board cut would take place. Congress failed to do their job and therefore the sequester. I don’t care much for Obama, but I can’t blame him for trying to get Congress to do their job. Any President, whether Obama now, anyone in the past, and unless the Constitution is amended anyone in the future only has the responsibility to make the United States honor its debts. It’s the 535 in the Senate and House who decide how much to give to or to cut from each program. Democrats, Republicans really don’t matter because they both seem able to whine and complain, and we let them get away with doing nothing because we can blame the President. For those old goats like me, can you imagine what people would say and think about IKE if he promoted building interstate highways in today’s climate? The press and the masses would call that the coming of military occupation through mobilization and 100 percent pure socialism.
Well put YDoICare. I guess if we want to make a list of the gimme gimme people we can copy and paste each and every name on the list of the people who make up the US Congress. I am an old geezer too (or am I a geezerette?) and know exactly where you are coming from. I also remember the beginning of the Interstate highway system....it was bigger news that sliced bread where I lived.
Too bad for Albany that I75 did not come close enough for a by pass, y'all would not be crying today as the post patrol so often does. Have a great day.
Agirl_25, from reading some of your comments, I would put you in the category of having manners and intelligence. I suspect that you possessed the same in younger years as well and most likely because you had some fine role models to imitate. From personal experience, I would argue that women who are respected and admired simply increase their accumulation of those qualities with age so neither “geezer nor geezerette” is applicable. Guys like me, on the other hand, just become more direct with age since we know that it’s pointless trying to impress people. We still work like when we were younger because we’re too hard headed to do other things so goats and mules certainly apply to me and many peers. Strange though that my wife still puts up with me and so do the wives of many friends who are just as stubborn as me. Thankfully for guys like me women of class sometimes have that vision flaw of mistaking a mule for a mustang, but even then they still know which animal is best suited for the type of work needed.
Hahahahahaha....you sound just like my husband, who is an old geezer and a stubborn mule. He still does things (at nearly 75) he should have stopped doing years ago but plows on. I thank you for the compliment about how I appear in the comments. Yes, you are correct, I had very wonderful role models. One of course was a very strong and strong willed Mother who gave birth to 8 children only to watch one die enroute on a train from my Dad's Army assignment in California to the east coast. Another was an older sister, 17 years my senior who is still as strong willed today as I remember her being during her younger days. She holds 2 patents, as does a brother (he only has one, neener neener on him) and she proved her intelligence many years ago in a man's world with the two ideas. I guess it is in the genes. Thanks again. And maybe you are right, maybe I do have a vision flaw with my husband but after 50 years I will keep him! He would be too hard to replace.
If you need an invisible imagined leader to live your life, you are quite susceptible to any and all lies.
Obama's real, not an imagined invisible leader.
If you are relying on the government or imagined supernatural leaders to live your life, you are absolutely susceptible to every story ever told.
