Fletcher speaks out on threatening phone call

Letter to the Editor

Apparently in direct response to an article which appeared in The Albany Herald a few days ago regarding the Paula Deen Museum, I received an anonymous phone call this morning.

As chair of the Paula Deen Museum Committee, the anonymous caller said I was a racist like Paula Deen and he threatened to attack me as a racist in the local media.

Once again racism has been brought into the fray, when we should be talking about harmony in our community. It's clearly an issue that is dividing us and it needs to be addressed in an open and public atmosphere.

As a candidate for public office, beginning on Sept. 7, I will be holding a series of public meeting to share my vision for Ward 3 and to invite everyone to join in the discussion of all issues of concern to the community. I welcome everyone to attend.

For anyone who is unable to attend my meetings, I would like to invite you to visit my web site, BJ4Albany.com, starting Aug. 10. I welcome your comments on the web.
