Tifton man pleads guilty to child pornography

TIFTON, Ga. -- Kenneth E. Henderson, 49, of Tifton, has admitted to keeping sexually explicit images of minor children on his computer, federal officials say. On July 29, federal prosecutors said, Henderson entered a plea of guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography before Hugh Lawson, senior U.S. judge for the Middle District of Georgia, in Valdosta.

According to a release by the office of Michael J. Moore, U.S. attorney, a search of Henderson's computer by law enforcement officials had earlier uncovered videos and images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Some of those materials involved prepubescent minors and minors under the age of 12, the release stated.

As a part of his plea, Henderson admitted that he searched for and viewed child pornography on the Internet during a seven-month period while he was assigned as an employee of the U.S. armed forces in Kuwait.

Court officials say Henderson is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 28 in Valdosta. Henderson faces a mandatory minimum of five years in federal prison and could serve up to 20 years, followed by a term of supervised release of five years to life, as well as a fine of up to $250,000.

The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations and the Naval Criminal Investigation Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert D. McCullers is handled the prosecution.
