The home of Jeanie and Sammy Tyson, 2806 Willcox Court, Albany, is the August home of the month as designated by the Daffodil Garden Club.
ALBANY, Ga. -- The home of Jeanie and Sammy Tyson at 2806 Willcox Court has been designated Yard of the Month for August by the Daffodil Garden Club.
"How many can boast that they have flowers on their table from their yard 365 days a year?" Marideane Maxwell with the Daffodil Garden Club asked. "Not many, but here is one that does just that.
"Jeanie and Sammy have just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and they, along with son Charles, have spent many hours perfecting their beautiful yard."
Maxwell said the August selection for the club's award has year-round beauty.
"As you can imagine, the scape is ever-changing with blooming plants," she said. "Black wrought iron fence enhances many areas throughout the yard, including the vegetable garden. A profusion of colorful plants highlights the area around the mailbox and extends along the iron fence with white coral vine being a highlight.
"The backyard abounds with many varieties of hydrangea that Jeanie says she has learned the secret of keeping healthy by trial and error."
Maxwell said the yard should be checked out at various times of the year to take in the changing scenery.
The Daffodil Garden Club meets at 2 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Federated Garden Center on Fifth Avenue in Albany. The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 20.
The club solicits nominations for its Yard of the Month recognition program. To nominate a residence or to get information about the club, call (229) 436-6888.
